The Padrino Cafe I have visited Padrino twice and I already have items in mind to order during my next visit! My picks: Piccante crispy calamari - crispy batter fried calamari that comes with an in-house dip. A Seafood lovers' must! Crispy Cajun chicken strips - coated with herbed batter, ground cornflakes and well spiced chicken, this is one was also my personal favorite which comes a dip. Jalapeño cheese balls - melted cheese and picked jalapeños,best combination that you can ask for. Gnocchi formaggio - gnocchi is made from boiled potatoes eggs and flour, which are shaped into tiny balls and cooked in boiling water. The restaurant serves gnocchi with different sauces and I went for the cheese sauce with prawns. The quality is a lot that can be shared atleast by 3 members. You hardly find restaurants in chennai serving gnocchi so don't miss this one. Peri peri chicken pizza - spicy and tangy chicken with vegetables on a thin crust pizza! They had mayo drizzled on top that added to the taste. Ice tea - in a city like chennai you need to keep yourself hydrated. This drink is not just a healthy option but satisfies your tastebuds as well. Ferrero rocher milkshake - chocolate gelato, ferrero rocher, chocolate sauce! Heaven in a jar! Panacotta with blueberry compote - however stuffed you this dessert is so light that you can finish this all by yourself

What I loved about their starters was that they weren't oily though they are all fried. They have different dips as that taste equally good. The quality is a lot and atleast three people can share all their dishes. All the dishes are freshly made and are served hot. Please have space for deserts. That's one mistake I always do, overeat and not she space for deserts, specially in places like these that serve authentic deserts that are made in-house. They also have selection of gelatos in interesting flavors.

Ambience: This is a pretty place that fits around 30 to 40 people at a time. They French windows so you have natural light during that day time and you don really need lights. They have couches as well as chairs and tables depending on the number of people to be seated. And their is plenty of walking space around the restaurant.

Service: I would give the service 10/10. You have smiling faces welcoming you, taking care of your seating, helping you with your order and size of the portions, filling your water and literally taking so much efforts to make you...

I have been to a lot of places to eat and this place is underwhelming to eat at.

Food first. The only thing they have going for themselves is the exclusiveness of selling a 30" pizza which doesn't really do justice to how an Italian pizza should taste like. the cheese was hard because of extra time in the oven. The thin crust was crispy enough to cause lacerations in the mouth. The sauces in the pizza were nearly non existent making the pizza feel dry to the mouth. The need for a beverage was unavoidable. On the day of my visit, there were quite a few items from the menu that were not available, to my dismay. They only had mojitos, which succeeded in completing the aridness of the pizza. Starters were better than their prized possession. The presentation of the main course was good (note that I only mean the way the food looked), which was let down by the quality and gaps in services (you will definitely end up waiting between courses and in courses as well).

The ambience needs work. This place is supposed to be a cafe/restuarant, but the music and the dim lighting in the restroom convey otherwise. They seem to be straight out of a club/bar and make the environment feel less family friendly. Please understand other other aspects of this place are family friendly. They really need to work on their music based on my visit on 28th of August 2021. The toilet is a place that I hope no one has to step into. If people working at Pedreno's are reading this, play something like John Mayer, Stevie Wonder, old Ed Sheeran songs, Jason Mraz etc.

You may think I am being really rigid about the evaluation of the place. I would like to explain the reasons for the same. They exorbitant prices levied by restaurant demand a service which justify the pricing. I would not cry foul for my latest visit found the restaurant working at half capacity, but this was my third visit and I found the same problems perpetuating through all of my visits forcing me to write this review.

Tl:dr - Their only "selling point" is a 30" pizza which doesn't taste great either. Starters are good, but why make the small fries better than the...

Pathetic restaurant. Avoid going there completely.

Went there with my extended family on Diwali night (29 Oct 2016) for a get together dinner. I made a confirmed reservation for 8 people at 8pm. We showed up at 810pm.

They did not have a table for 8 when we walked in. They gave us a table for 6 instead and we has to pull in chairs and sit crammed.

They took the orders and it took them forever to get it. They brought the main course first and starters later.

The Ravioli's were cold and uncooked. For a pricy menu, this is definitely not acceptable.

The kids had ordered for Spegatti and Pizza and even after 40 mts, they were still making it.

We were getting frustrated and I asked if I could talk to the restaurant manager to 3 different people. No one seemed to care. The manager did not show up.

All 8 of us had enough and walked out of the restaurant after paying for the 2 Ravioli's and cancelled the rest of the order. They immediately said they'll get the food immediately.. sorry it was too late.

The manager of the restaurant showed up as we were settling the bill and walking out. He said they don't have enough staff at the kitchen.. I don't understand why he said that to me? That's hardly my problem. I told him that I'm extremely frustrated with their food, service and careless attitude.

This is an overpriced restaurant with very low food and service quality.

Ofcourse we are never going there again.

All in all they completely spoiled our family's Diwali night get together and dinner.

If you are planning on having good food and nice evening, please completely avoid this restaurant. These guys are rookies trying to make some quick money in the name of running a fine restaurant. I usually get way better service in a local restaurant like Saravana Bhavan (which is where we all went to for dinner that night, after the...

My recent visit to Padrino in Alwarpet, formerly known as Pedreno's, left me with mixed feelings about the dining experience. Opting for a simple yet satisfying selection, I ordered penne pasta, garlic bread, cheese balls, and a mojito, hoping to enjoy a flavorful meal. Starting with the garlic bread and cheese balls, I found both dishes to be underwhelming. The garlic bread lacked the expected garlic flavor and was a bit dry, while the cheese balls, though promising in concept, were not as flavorful or crispy as anticipated. These appetizers failed to impress and set a disappointing tone for the rest of the meal. Moving on to the penne pasta, a staple of Italian cuisine, I was hoping for a redeeming dish. Unfortunately, the pasta dish fell short of expectations. The sauce lacked depth and seemed overly, detracting from the overall taste experience. The penne itself was cooked adequately but did not absorb the flavors of the sauce effectively, leaving it bland and uninspiring. To accompany the meal, I ordered a mojito, expecting a refreshing beverage. While the mojito was decent, it did not compensate for the shortcomings of the food. Service-wise, the staff at Padrino were courteous and attentive, ensuring that our orders were promptly taken and dishes served without delay. However, the quality of the food did not meet the standards I had hoped for based on previous experiences at Pedreno's. In conclusion, my recent dining experience at Padrino in Alwarpet was disappointing. The garlic bread, cheese balls, and penne pasta failed to meet expectations in terms of flavor and quality. While the mojito was satisfactory, it was not enough to salvage the overall meal experience. With inconsistent food execution, Padrino has room for improvement to regain its reputation as a reliable spot for Italian cuisine enthusiasts in Chennai.

Very slow, indifferent service. Expensive. Small portions. Salty. Will never visit again. Ordered: Baked Aubergine with Parmesan - got 2 small salty stacks of Aubergine with basil leaves on top, for 352!! Edible. Nachos with cheese dip - got a small katori of cheese dip surrounded by some local, store bought stale nachos (not even Doritos-level quality) with a few mutilated black olives on top, tasteless 'red beans' paste and some tomato-onion...thing they choose to call salsa for 295!! Couldn't finish more than half.... pathetic. Pepperoni-Mushroom+broccoli+zucchini half-half pizza - served without the main ingredient in the veg half - Mushroom!! When this was pointed out, they simply brought a small bowl with some cooked mushroom and plonked it on the table - no regret, no apology. They also didn't think it necessary to apologise for serving the pizza a full 20 mins late, that too after several reminders. The pepperoni side was extra salty. The veg side was tasteless. 1070 for this nonsense! In spite of such poor service and pathetic food, they added a 7% Service Charge which I made them remove later. Overall damage - 1908 and a wasted Sunday night. The draw here is a big 30 inch pizza which makes people go weak,I guess - nothing else can explain the crowds. This is a rip-off operation. Buyer beware.
