We went to this Adyar branch of Buhari on a Sunday. We always have high expectations when it comes to buhari. But sadly this time it didn't meet our expectations.
Went with mom and my daughter. All of us avid briyani lovers. We ordered sweetcorn veg soup, 1 mutton biryani and 1 egg briyani (I am basically an eggitarian)
The soup was okayish. Because I was hungry I gulped it down to the last bit.
We had no qualms about the briyani. It was absolutely delish.
But their was poor service. Only one person was available to a slowly filling place. They took their time to serve. And once we were done, we asked for our desert options. To which the poker faced waiter said no deserts were available. No tea, No coffee also.
We paid around 966 totally. The thing that bothered me was they had served a veg sweetcorn soup and charged for a chicken sweetcorn soup. I am the kind who doesn't usually check the bill not because I am too extravagant because I am too lazy and trusting. But today I checked thankfully. It was just another 20 bucks. But it was still something that I didn't expect from such an established restaurant.
So overall, it was an okayish experience. Feeling that I should've rather ordered briyani from here and ate at home, rather than visiting this place next time....
Read moredespite being a staunch egg-iterian, buhari is my go-to restaurant for comfort food. their recipes are older than I am. hence, it is extremely soul satisfying.
here's what I recommend for all vegetarians who add egg while visiting a non-vegetarian restaurant like buharis: until recently, i was a huge fan of their wheat parotta. then, on my last visit, tried their ghee rice. it was love at first sight. the aroma coming from the rice will make us crave more and more.
egg podimas. a classic recipe that's a bit spicy and salty. flavored with the right amount of onions, coriander and green chillis.
paneer butter masala. a standard preference owing to the immense comfort I get out of their super consistency on the taste and speed of availability.
oh yes, for non-vegetarians, do remember to try their "Campbell chicken". it's boneless and prepared well!
lastly, do not forget to try their caramel custard for deserts. another timeless classic...
Read moreBuhari is a well known brand amongst biriyani lovers and non vegetarians for their authentic taste and variety of food items. Even a small kid knows its reputation for the quality and taste of the food.
At Buhari Adyar branch, We ordered chicken biriyani and chilli fish. Followed by idiyappam, paaya and chicken 65. Food was served hot and on time. Staff's were friendly.
Found the quality of chicken in the biriyani to be not so fresh as the chicken in the 65 tasted fresh. However, the chicken in the biriyani must be repurposed from the previous day is my understanding.
Please serve freshly made food to keep up your brand name. Nobody wants to pay for the old meat. Although I noticed this while eating, I didn't want to report it and create a scene thereby spoiling all ( family of 4) our sunday mood.
Thank you for taking the necessary action to serve...
