The Raintree, Anna Salai — Hotel in Zone 9 Teynampet

I don't want to give any star but I'm giving 1 only for travel desk of Rain tree. I didn't have a great experience here as compared to my expectations. This stay was booked from my company and I was here for some official work. Initially I didn't have complete info on the package which was booked for me. The receptionist didn't give me any information about it. No one came to help me with the room. They just gave the key and I went searching for my room all alone with the luggage. They didn't even tell me the floor number. In the lift, we are supposed to insert the key to go to the desired floor. I wasn't aware of it and I was struggling and it got locked. I had to ask the staff for help. In my package only 1 meal and 1 breakfast was included. When I asked the receptionist, he said that I can have the meal on 2nd day as well. But later I found out that only 1 meal was allowed, receptionist had overlooked my package I guess!!. I had to come out of the dining area. I had to make other arrangements at the last moment and I also got bit late for my flight. When I ordered the fruit platter to the room, they didn't come for an hour. I had to call the reception twice to get it finally! Worst part is that there's lobby where food is served. They didn't give me any direction to it. I went to a different floor where some function was going on. I was going to have there almost, then I asked the waiter there. He showed me the way to kitchen area!! I felt that the receptionists were showing lot of attitude and didn't respond properly to my queries. There's one lady at the reception. She's the worst.! There's no proper directions, no proper service, no help offered to the guests. They don't live up to the 5 star tag! Simply they are charging so much without providing any comfortable service to the guests. The only good thing I experienced here was travel desk. Although they were also taking some time to send the cabs, all the travel desk staff was very helpful and considerate. I would like to take the name of a driver, Puthiran. He was really good, he dropped me to one restaurant to have my lunch, waited for me to finish it. Even though I said that I'll take parcel, he insisted me to have it peacefully. I could manage with the drivers without knowing their regional language. They were that good and humble. Only for all these prompt and humble drivers and travel desk, I am giving 1 star, otherwise I would given zero or even negative for...

Stayed 1N & 2 D. Staff is polite generally. Hotel is clean. Room size is good for a couple or one kid family even if you take deluxe room. Cannot say all staff maintain the quality, pool man appeared to be a bit grumpy, saying so many rules. When my wife ordered a beer at pool he is looking like ' what?' But when he understand she is a foreigner the whole scenario and the attitude changed to positive. Those mediocre culture was not expected from a hotel of this standard. Food is good. The buffet breakfast is excellent. But the dinner is much overpriced. With GST , service charges and GST for service charges will cost you more than 4k for a normal buffet dinner even without drinks. If you are rich not to consider above point, don't consider. Then about TV in room is small and old, just a small flat TV. Then the balcony showing in advertising is not with deluxe rooms, and they are opening to a courtyard not to openly outside and I believe those in smoker's rooms. If you choose for ordering to pool or room, most of the time it may take 30- 45 mins. The swimming pool on top is very good and clean. Good view also. But it is 4 ft pool all long. There are no life jackets or child lifejackets available. There is no kids pool also. So if you are coming with kid you may have to bring kids lifejacket of your own. The pool man have a rule book about the dress to wear to pool, but he don't have anything like the preferred dress for buying or as complimentary. Rules are plenty in his pocket. Except a few small unpleasant notes which you may not face every time this is a nice hotel in the price range. The most amazing help was they are allowing early early checking of about 2 hours and late check out of about 4 hours according to room availability. And the staff and very polite and helpful generally. I will really consider the hotel on my next visit to chennai and if so will check out the pool once...

Totally let down by this reservation. Upon entering the property I was told there was ongoing construction on the property and basically all amenities were off limits. I should have left right then. I decided to proceed with the stay figuring that it being a weekend construction would be non-existent or at least less. To my amazement, construction was going full force from 7am until 8pm on Saturday and the time I was there on Sunday! The hotel should show a little respect for their guests especially on a weekend. I could not even call down to the reception because my phone in room did not work. Adding to my displeasure was the hour long sound of something throwing up in another room, which the sound echoed through the vents from some other floor. Not an exciting sound to hear in the morning before breakfast. My last complaint, and probably most discusting, was that the first night I encountered 3 mosquitos at night. Two I was able to kill when I woke up throughout the night. The third actually went up my nose and bite and caused me to have a bloody nose, which got all over the blankets. Terrible and worrisome experience. I hope that I have not contracted anything from these mosquitos! The only credit I will give is to the staff and breakfast experience which I thought was excellent but was overshadowed by the constant construction...
