Mr Karthick provided awesome service, just as the other reviewers mentioned. The food here is pricey and there are so many items here. Suspect a lot of them are hit or miss. That's what makes this a 3, as only 2 of the items we tried were standouts. If I comeback and there are others that are worth repeat ordering, it may go up to a 4. Would come back again to have the cumin lamb and khao pad krapao fried rice.
Safe bet: The cumin lamb: It is very good and similar to the way it is prepared in authentic Chinese restaurants in the US. The cut of meat used is the correct one unlike the lamb steak which is tougher and harder to handle - thats the cut used by Mamagato in their cumin lamb. Khao pad krapao fried rice- It was spicy and I was surprised that it tasted as good as it was. Would get again.
Meh: Laksa was decent but Laksa that is not fishy and tasting like the sea is not authentic. Veg laksa was ordered and it was lacking in depth of flavor. Pork broth ramen - The pork slice, as in chasu, were tough and very bland. The pork broth was also okay. Would not get this again.
Skip: All desserts here are priced really high for tiny portions. The execution of the desserts are a joke. Fancy in name only. Don't get fooled. Just order another 2 mains instead of desserts.
The yuzu cheesecake: did not have any delicious Yuzu flavor. They used some chocolate sprinkles on top of the cake and the cheesecake had a light lemon flavor. The cheesecakes in India are never executed correctly. There needs to be the right amount of cream cheese to sour cream ratio. It is supposed to be fatty. Don't skimp on what makes a cheesecake a cheesecake.
Liquid hazelnut and blueberry quenelle: The size of this was microscopic. Tiny 2 bite sized matcha cake. Absolutely do...
Read morePa Pa Ya is a delectable inductee into Chennai's recently more vast fine dining scene. Our first visit was stellar thanks to the tastebud tingling torrent of amazing dishes coupled with service par excellence by Mohan. Now, having just made our 10th visit (so easy to keep coming back), the standard has only gotten better. Fantastic variety and perfection in execution make it a must try and retry experience till and beyond having sampled everything on the menu. A1 cocktails are a wonderful compliment to the dining experience but, it goes almost without saying that the service is deserving of more praise than most of the best places around. Incredibly friendly staff, ever-smiling faces, quick order delivery, plate collection and clean up as and when necessary, incomparable willingness to make sure the customer feels at home and unhindered. Today, we had the pleasure of service by Shishir who really took it all to the next level with exemplary manners, effort and simply being on-point about everything. Kim, Lydya, Suprya and Karthick made sure we got everything we asked for before we expected any of it and did it all in so non-intrusive and speedy a way that we hardly even realized any of our empty dishes had been cleared, table cleaned and necessities replenished. They took the time and effort to make sure we were all duly served each dish and did it all with a breezy, pleasant mannerism that made lunch lighter than it should have been given that we ordered more than we could consume. We love Pa Pa Ya under Kareem's management and will be coming back often for a long long time to come thanks to a recurrently fabulous dining experience be it lunch, dinner or in between. Kudos and keep up...
Read moreMy family had a small family get-together on 19th January 2024 for 35 people. We had a wonderful time at Pa Pa Ya, Nungambakkam. The food, service and ambience was perfect for a medium sized family get-togethers. I would surely recommend this place because of the above reasons mentioned.
The staff especially the senior staffs were constantly on their toes to ensure that the party went without a hitch. Even people from various parts of the globe who were there loved the food, ambience and service.
The bar men were very friendly and more than happy for our requests for various drinks and cocktails. They were looking at every personal aspect of the guests. When you go for the second round they somehow remember what we wanted without us asking what we want. The senior staffs like Mani and Shishir were spoiling us rotten with their professionalism. The junior staffs were very well trained and always served us with a smile.
My only note of complain was that we were served the starters all at once. By the time we were ready for the second round we were stuffed with goodies like Tempuras, Sushis, Steamed Dimsums, Satays and other goodies. By the time the main course came were were truly stuffed by the starters. I wish they would have stretch the starters over a period . The sticky rice from the main course was too dry but the rest of the food were simply outstanding.
I surely recommend Pa Pa Ya to all. This is a nice place to party. I would like to add a request... Pls make this area and air-conditioned because our city is a tropical coastal city. The humidity is high. Hope you guys can bid my...
