THE THIEF — Restaurant in Zone 9 Teynampet

We both are doctors and after having a busy day we thought to chill in this new resto bar. This place was actually recommended by the Google with more than 4 star rating. believing that we went inside. first challenge was finding a table. assuming that everywhere it's gonna be a problem on Saturday night, we understood the difficulty and waited. After almost waited for 15 minutes we found the table. voila!! and the menu card came. we thought to order a pitcher drink and my fiance suggested to have a pizza.

we called the waitress and asked for a long beach pitcher and fish fingers. The pitcher arrived first. this was loaded with hell-a-lot of ice cubes, highly diluted drink. anyways we just adjusted and waited for the food. The food didn't arrive for almost half n hour and we then reminded. The waiter came with a dry fish and chips and it was soggy, highly highly salty..after eating a bite I just told my fiance to please return it. The waiter took it and promised a replacement. We were still waiting. No sign of the food, almost half our pitcher is done. Then is the suprise, the waited who took our order vanished. He neither have anyone a handing over not anyone's bothered to ask whether our food came. we spent almost 1.5 hours waiting for our food alone. Later we scouted for the waiter and then realised that he forgotten to place our order oly. Me and my fiance got furious but we never lost our patience or shouted. Mr. John came and apologised to us saying sorry ' happened is happened'. And he also offered us to take the fish dish parcel without charging us any. we neither took it neither payed for it. next is the pizza, the pizza was horrible to the core. the base was uncooked and sloppy. I had no idea what I should say. Because we really couldn't afford to say no to this and we had somehow.

Then the most atrocious part is after billing we were waiting for 20 minutes to get our car back from the parking..the valet driver then after 20 minutes had returned our car and forgot to place the key. He instead took the key with him. Altogether me and my fiance had not noticed untile we got down in valasaravakam in our home. then we realised the car key isn't there. Poor my guy went all the way to Nungambakkam again to check. He kept on trying to reach the staff no one picked up. This made both of us furious and we ultimately ruined our evening completely. We literally had returned home with teary eyes. Me and him never had such experience any time in Chennai. We do not recommend this place to any one and will stick to this. This place has ultimately spoiled our evening and it was not a usual one for us. it was sentimental as we were embarking on a new journey and wanted to chill and discuss over a table in this resto. This place has shattered our evening and had brought irreconcilable agony on this place. please do not visit....

The Thief, located on Kodambakkam high road is a restobar with something for everyone. The establishment houses a nail salon on the ground floor and the rest of the building is The Thief. The decor features many prominent 'thieves' from notable history. The first floor houses a pool table and a more casual setup. The 2nd floor has a typical bar like atmosphere and the 3rd floor has a slightly more open environment and the top floor features private cabanas.

Visited this place on a Saturday night. It was extremely crowded, however the valet drivers did a commendable job and it was a hassle free experience. On returning, our cars were also brought back reasonably quick.

We we're informed that the establishment was not taking reservations and only walk ins were permitted. We arrived at around 7:30 and the host informed us that we will not be permitted into the 2nd floor which was reserved for couples. There was quite a crowd and entry wasn't the most pleasant. We headed upstairs and we were given a table at the 3rd floor. It was quite warm because our table was close to the open kitchen. Food and drinks were served. Drinks were alright, but the food was merely satisfactory. The pizzas we're decent. We had to ask for water repeatedly, despite that we weren't served water. It was a Saturday night and the place was crowded, but there were atleast 4 wait staff just standing right next to us, quite literally doing nothing about it. After a few rounds of food and drinks, we asked for the check and it took them upwards of 10 minutes to bring us the bill. Once we received the bill, we noticed an additional charge for something that we did not order. After we pointed it out to the maitre d', it was rectified shortly.

Overall, it was an ok experience. The initial niggles and hiccups are evident, but the management seems to be trying hard to provide a good experience to all patron. I'll reserve further comment until I visit again a few weeks later, hopefully they've...
