I have seen kitsune cafe abroad such as in south Korea, so when they open their first branch in Ashta, it gives me curiosity to try it even more.
Entrance is accessible through their clothing store maison kitsune, and staff from the clothing store is already welcoming. Place is spacious, many seatings , option for smoking and non smoking, dim lights, simple decor, and quiet a nice ambience. Sadly, the seatings might not well maintained since has dirt on the sofa couch and kinda unpleasant seeing it especially in an international on the higher end standard restaurant.
Service is great, they politely ask for your name for the table and the waiter and waitresses greet and serve us by using our name, a nice touch of hospitality. They are fast and quick as well, but because too spacious sometimes the waiter is kinda hard to call.
We ordered Kitsune burger (IDR 145k) , presentation is very simple , burger serve on a plate, no extra decoration such as veggies or etc, and serve with delicious fries. Surprisingly although the presentation very simple not appetizing, taste wise okay and comparable with restaurant specialty serving burger. The bun is soft, cook nice but nothing special, fillings include , juicy Patty easily crumble seasoned very well , you can choose bacon or beef strip to go along with it, sunny side up egg, onion. Portion big, generous enough for one person. Fries as well tasty crispy savory.
Yuzu shrimp (IDR 110k) probably best udang asam manis ever. Kinda mix of chinese food and japanese twist , crispy tangy dough not that soggy texture, taste balance well sweet savory sour fresh from the orange, shrimp meat kinda small. portion are kinda small enough just as snack, and expensive for this portion. But worth to try as it is different from any other udang asam manis.
Gyudon (IDR 120k) , presentation nice, the beef slice is soft, thick taste different from typical rice bowl one, rice cook nicely, serve with spring onion and boiled egg. Taste a little bit bland than ordinary rice bowl, since rice bowl brand actually suits the taste with most people, while this gyudon held it's authenticity taste of japanese beef gyudon.
Canele (IDR 27K) it's okay, not too sweet, texture is typical of canele and worth to try.
Overall my experience here in Cafe Kitsune is pleasant, service is amazing , place and ambience nice, but probably need a little more maintenance especially for the couch sofa since it looks dirty and old, food is okay but nothing special except the yuzu shrimp which I might came back for it despite it's expensive price. Spend around 600K IDR for two person here with...
Read moreNo returning visit I guess. I reserved the spot for 6PM. I was surprised because there was no obvious separation between nonsmoking and smoking area. I asked to move to nonsmoking since they put my reservation to smoking area. It was quite packed that night, no significant social distancing. Even a table could be occupied by more than 4 persons. I read somewhere that their service was kinda slow but fortunately I didn't experience it.
We ordered hot ube latte, iced charcoal latte, green green (salad), crushed salmon, Kitsune burger, daifuku mochi, matcha cake, and fox shortbread. We spent almost IDR 800K. To be frank, I was disappointed with the order. The beverages came less than 10 minutes after ordering. The iced charcoal latte came in takeaway plastic cup while we were dining in. They should replace it with the actual glass.
Talking about the food, you'll be surprised by how tiny the portion is, almost identical with kids menu portion, definitely not worth the price. While you can get the more fulfilling portion with the same price tag somewhere else. The plating, so not appetizing. They need to improve their plating, consider the portion, and ditch the plastic cup for dine in customers.
Kitsune Burger was sadder looking than a local burger joint's. For IDR 135K (not including tax + service), it had no side dish, the patty was a tad dry with bland taste.
But if you're thirsty for SNS content or having no issue spending hours for chit-chatting with latte and pastries, this is...
Read moreThe general impression of visiting this cafe: bad service, tiny portion and unfriendly staff. Definitely not coming back.
Some friends and I visited this cafe on Chinese New Year, we were on the waiting list (number 7). We then strolled around the mall for 1,5 hours. After that we came back, this unfriendly staff welcomed us and said that it was still number 7, with no further explanation.
Three weeks later, no phone call ever happened came to my phone. But, I learned from the mistake, and I booked it in advance which then luckily I got the table. These are the reasons my friends and I decided not to come back again:
First, I asked for the most favorite menu on the 'all day breakfast' section. Another unfriendly staff replied back: "Have you read the menu sir?" and he looked confused about my question. Of course I had read the menu!
Second, we asked the staff whether if one of my friend came, we can add one chair to our table side. She said "Yes, definitely". But when she came, another unfriendly staff warned us that she could not join us, so that we have to squeeze in. Another bad service.
Third, one of my friend ordered Piccolo, and the staff told her with a demeaning tone: "But it is small". We know that, and it seems that she judged us that we only want a big portion.
Lastly, the music was toooo loud. Oh my God, we cannot even talked to each...
