Shori Sushi Bar, Ashta District 8 — Restaurant in Jakarta

Honestly, not really worth the hype. To be fair, the beef bomb sushi was yummy, the beef was melted in the mouth and that I can recommend. But the rest of the food was just so -so.

My chicken teriyaki bowl came with cold egg and the chicken was dry and hard to bite. Taste wise it was alright but not satisfying. And seriously, remove the abon, it ruins the taste. And remove the plain cabbage, too. Change with Nori and white sesame seed, instead.

The salmon fish head came out so fast to our surprise. In other restaurant, we will need to wait 20-30 mins for a fresh grilled fish. However, it came with again slightly dry meat and soggy skin. Either it was reheated, or the chef cooked it in a rush and little care. The size was also so small compared to what the picture on the menu or social media shows us.

Place was nicely decorated and cozy, although privacy and sound proof works badly, as we can hear what people on 2 tables far from us, talk about, in a crowded situation. Server and service were good and fast.

Overall, to me, it was just an alright experience, not so worth for the value of money and taste wise.

If you happened to be at Ashta (which has very limited restaurants available there) and wanna eat Japanese food, go ahead, this is your best choice. But if you really wanna eat good and authentic Japanese food, this is not the place to go imo.

Came here a lot of times, it became a comfort spot for my loved ones & I. Even referred this place to other people I know as well. Unfortunately, they weren't very lenient with my mother's medical condition where she is medically advised against the consumption of green tea. In other places like Sushi Tei or Gion, the managers & staff were very understanding & offered her black tea with refillable hot water, but in Shori, there is no such accommodation. If you don't order ocha, screw you I guess, despite spending insane amounts of money on ordering the food. They don't care if you decided to support this restaurant or not, you don't get any sort of understanding over a medical condition for dropping more than 100k on one meal. My main gripe is how expensive this place is, but there seems to be little to no appreciation (or UNDERSTANDING, at least) to those who support this place & are struggling with their health. This may be the last time I'm going to come here. Please just go to Sushi Tei & Gion instead. They're more humble, & their service...

Been curious to try Shori Sushi Bar while in Ashta District 8. I tried a few of their dishes like Salmon Fried Sushi Roll, Chicken Teriyaki Maki, and Tori Soboro Ramen. In my opinion their Salmon Fried Sushi Roll and Chicken Teriyaki Maki is pretty nice. Taste wise and pricing wise it's similar with another sushi place in Jakarta. For Tori Soboro Ramen, it's basically dry ramen topped with minced chicken. Portion wise this menu is really generous, however taste wise it's too bland for my liking. They have nice Japanese ambience, however since there's plants planted on the ceiling, there's many small insects (drain flies) in the dining area, and it's kinda annoying and unhygienic, however still within the limits that can be tolerated by me.
