We had a great time dining at Canton 108 and tried a variety of dishes that made the experience enjoyable.
The Canton 108 Appetizer Platter was a good way to start, there was jellyfish, sliced beef tendon (I think), poached chicken, and charsiu-style unagi. It was interesting to try unagi done differently, though I personally prefer the usual Japanese-style unagi. Still, it was a nice change and probably better suited for those who enjoy fusion flavors.
The Crispy Prawn Cheong Fun was tasty, what stood out most was the fragrant soy-based sauce that paired really well with the crispy texture inside the rice roll.
I also liked the Two Flavors Eggplant. They used green eggplant, which kept its shape well and wasn’t mushy. It came with mushrooms and tofu too.
The Traditional Whole Chicken Cooked in Clay and Lotus Leaf was something new for me. It arrived still wrapped in clay, which they cracked open at the table, fun to watch! The chicken was quite flavorful, a bit salty, but went well with plain white rice.
We also tried the Fried Okra with Pumpkin Sauce. It was actually more like a rich dish. The pumpkin sauce was savory and slightly salty, which again made it great with rice. Some of the okra pieces were a bit tough, maybe because they were overripe, but overall still enjoyable.
The Grilled Char Siu Seabass was interesting, soft fish with a sweet char siu glaze. For me, the char siu flavor works better with pork or chicken, but it was still worth trying for something different.
Lastly, I had the Imperial Lapsang Souchong tea. It had a smoky, roasted aroma, kind of like charcoal or campfire, very unique and perfect to end the meal. It was my first time trying it, and I found it unique and memorable.
Service was professional, and the dishes came out at a nice pace. Overall, the dishes were interesting and we enjoyed the variety. There were a few hits and a few that weren’t quite my taste, but it was a good...
Read moreActually I visited Canton 108 because of their Black Sesame & Coconut Stones (5 pcs) which is containing Coconut Cream, Black Sesame Praline, Black Sesame Ash, Mandarin Gel. You guys gonna love their presentation of these dessert. Visually pretty and taste as pretty as it looks. Totally recommend this menu for you guys to try. Beside this menu, I also ordered a few of their Dimsum Menu which are Traditional King Prawn and Chicken Siu Mai, Baked Chicken "Char Siu" Bun and Fried Prawn Dough Rice Roll. To be honest, their Dimsum Menu is not to my liking, since there's many restaurant whom served similar dishes with better taste and more sensible price. For beverages, I ordered Lapsang Souchong Breeze (Lapsang Souchong cold-brewed Tea, Orange, Peach Syrup, Peach) and Soursop Juice. For this visit to Canton 108, i'm gonna rate them 2 out of 5 (mainly the points thanks to their Black Sesame & Coconut Stones). For more info about foods, kindly visit...
