Koda — Restaurant in Jakarta

Alright let's start with the location of venue. A little bit hard to find and parking in the building is just outrageous.

Koda bar itself, very gorgeous bar. Very nice chill upscale vibe. Lighting, colors, texture, carpet, and the furniture really screams speakeasy vibes to me.

The drinks are simply special. Master Yutaka's gin and tonic is an art. Just the right amount of tonic water, unlike some popular drinking places here. But my Favourite has to be any of the sweet drinks with coconut cream. It feels like I'm drinking spiked cendol/bajigur. Truly an art. I suggest patrons to come here knowing what they like before hand. Master Yutaka will then tailor make a cocktail that is to your liking. Truly an awesome experience.

My suggestion to patrons, reserve early and ask for the seats on the bar. There you can communicate directly with Master Yutaka and your drinks will be better suited to you. By the end of the night, master has figured out what I liked and the cocktails became increasingly better for me.

The whole experience was awesome, will be back again in the future for sure

One of speakeasy bar in Jakarta, which located at the one of the newest office tower - Sudirman 7.8. Known this place from one of Japanese friend of mine and suggested to give a try.

It was on Sunday evening when visited this place, so no activity and no busy at all, very quiet. When reached Sudirman 7.8 as instructed over the phone to ring back, so the hostess will come and pick up at the lobby. Forgot which floor though, but I still remember from the elevator, there's a corridor with few doors - one of them is KODA :) .. very tricky.

Simple, small, yet cozy. Were sitting at the bar so got the experience to talk to friendly, chatty, fun and seems like competent bartenders who provided personalized service and high quality beverages with a little too pricey in my opinion...and yet, ended up having 5 cocktails :D Love the background music too! Tried to order meal, unfortunately they only have kinda a platter no other option. It was good tho - enough for one.

I like the place...

Definitely not worth it. I expected a unique bar with great vibes. It was definitely unique with how it's hidden and has a cool emergency escape like entrance.

The drinks were tasty too.

What was not worth it? Staff were cold and just take orders without any conversation Expensive, around 300k per cocktail. No menu with prices. Music on low volume to none. It is just so awkward and quiet. I was so bored and falling asleep that I left in under an hour.

With those statements, here are some suggested improvements.

1. Provide a more fair price such as 200k per cocktail.
2. Have staff be friendly and chatty
3. Provide good music with good volume.

It has great potential but it's just not what I expected. There are other speakeasy bars in Jakarta like A/A Bar. If the price is high, at least provide a great ambiance.
