This restaurant is located in CBD area of Jakarta. That's why it is easily accessed. For first-time visitors, please be informed that it is open in the basement. If you do not want to spend time looking for it, please approach security guards or building CS staff (during business hours only) to inform you the direction.
If you compare its interior with other similar restaurants, you might find it quite unique and interesting. You will be seated in a private cubicle though you go there accompanied by one friend only. The staff will assign a cubicle in accordance with the number of guests. In case you are alone, it is very likely you will be directed to take a seat at the bar-style dining room. If there are some remaining vacant cubicle and you are alone, perhaps you may choose one of them. Almost all cubicles are arranged with tatami-style. It has only several (maybe about 4 cubicles) western-style dining rooms. The staff will close all doors of your private cubicle once you have place your order. Later on, you need to press the button of the intercom device located inside of each cubicle. There are 3 VIP rooms that can be used by 10-15 persons each. At the time of this entry posted, no minimum charge is required. Minimum amount of persons is a must. The benefit of VIP rooms is that the air-con runs better here. In other cubicles, the air-con just generates a "whispering" breeze but it is not hell-burning hot. Hence, if you are a person who needs a constant air-con supply, please ensure you sit near the air-con exhaust outlet.
You may find a full range of japanese food. Some of them are rare to find in ordinary japanese restaurants, e.g.: oden (おでん), grilled onigiri (焼きおにぎり), and chazuke (茶漬け). Since my 3-first visits happenned in the evening, I am not aware of its lunch menu. For the evening, you will be offered a là carte menu. You are encouraged to ask current promotion menu. Please allow me to say that the taste of its food is average, not too good but not bad too, including its famous takoyaki たこ焼き).
The service is OK but please be patient when it is fully occupied. The last thing but quite important is the percentage of service charge (10%), plus VAT (10%).
Good Points: Unique interior for its private cubicles Full range of types of dishes that ordinary competitors do not have
Disappointing Points: Air-con not running well The taste is so-so if you expect that you will be surprised as much as its interior Quite high service...
Read moreSakana Japanese Restaurant. This is an authentic Japanese restaurant running by the Japanese cook and staff. When you enter this restaurant every crew inside the restaurant will shout the words “irasshai-mase” that meaning Welcome. The first time, I came to this restaurant I was shocked because everybody shouts at me and saying that word.
Your choice is dinning in the open space where people gather and eat the food altogether or in the sushi and sashimi table bar. Or a private room with a maximum capacity of 4 persons.
All menus are original Japanese cuisine and cooked by the real Japanese chef and no doubt about the quality and the taste. I love the taste of the food and the services.
The unique thing I like while dining there is in the private room, you can call the waitress for additional food or bill without using a bell or shouting to call them. Just do a simple thing like clapping 2 times and the waiter will come and ready...
Read moreHad visited Sakana waaayyyy back when I was still studying abroad and came home for holidays. Even back then Sakana was the place to go for some yummy Japanese dishes. Since then I've moved back to Indo and entered the workforce, but sadly I didn't get much chance to visit. That changed today!
Managed to cleverly organized a lunch meeting here and very pleased with myself for it. The place is still great and have private cubicles to allow better chats and meetings. Menu was extensive comprising of scrumptious rice bowls, steaks and other variants. I had pork steak set while my guest had the US pork belly signature rice bowl set. Both were amazing and must try for sure. I was only half way thru my meal, talking work stuff, and already thinking when I could come back with family 😁💭
My advise is to come early before 12 to avoid office lunch rush hour....
