Am a big fan when they used to be in Gunawarman, so, of course, I was excited to try the recently re-opened KILO in ASHTA
Great food, went there couple of times but there was some inconsistencies on their foods — understandable though since I was there, both times, within a couple of days after the reopening date🤪
However when I take my family for dinner over, everything was amazing, everybody loved what they ordered. My personal favorite were the Beef Tongue Tacos, Ceviche & Smashed Burger
Foods I ordered: Beef Tongue Tacos : just as I remembered it, always love the apple slaw & the tortilla 🤤 — contrary to popular belief, that IS real corn tortilla 😙 quite hard to find in town (CMIIW) can only wish they serve more than 2 pcs per plate LOL Smashed Burger : only available during lunch, the patty wasn’t really smashed but nonetheless it’s still a good burger, served with veggies on the sides & amaaazing frieees 🤤 Salmon Tuturuga : was quite sceptical at first to order Manadonese food on a place like this but it turned out great! Perfectly cooked Salmon, served with nasi furikake & bomb corn quinoa urap — I’m quite sure they used coriander which adds, somehow, a nostalgic & unique note to the entirety of the dish 💛 Roast Chicken : also great, however we all agreed that we loved the sides (salad, honey lemon dressing & charred tomatoes) better than the chicken 🤣 Seafood Ceviche : (didn’t take a pic, but it was refreshing! A combination of octopus, snapper and the crunchy wonton crisps made it better) Grilled Veg & Ricotta : LOOOVEEEE it! The nuttiness from the goma + the smokiness from the char & fresh note from the mint *chef’s kiss 😘 Homemade Ricotta Gnocchi : well cooked Gnocchi, great sauce but too much mushroom to my liking, not a bad thing tho Fish Burger : this was my friend’s order, also only available during lunch. Overall is good, the fish is well marinated, they put the veggies inside for this one and also served with their amazing fries
However, I feel that they still have room for improvements on their service. When I went there during lunch, it wasn’t busy yet the staffs seemed to be so busy, it took quite an effort to get their attention. As for the dinner time, it was busier and there were more staffs on duty, it seemed like they’re still struggling (?) I’m not sure, perhaps because it’s still premature — only a couple days after the reopening date, which is also understandable.
They provide restrooms within the resto area, which, if you’ve been to ASHTA, this is a plus point LOL. BUT at that time, there are some imperfections to the restrooms. They have this, state-of-the-art faucet which hangs from the ceiling & round sink at the bottom. The faucet uses sensor to activate but unfortunately the pressure was too high — the cleaning person was aware of it but he was tad too late to warn me, so I ended up with wet pants 🤣🤣🤣, fortunately it was dimmed lighted so nobody noticed. Hope they’ve fixed...
Read moreHad a brunch with Wifey here, and it was pleasant.
Right when we arrive, the staff kindly greet us and asks whether we have reservations (which we do), and we specifically requested a non-smoking seat, of which we were provided.
Timothy, our waiter of the day was kind and courteous, providing us with food recommendations as well as checking us for any food allergy (appreciated!).
We ordered Squid Ink Rice, Hamburger, and Ice Mocha.
Squid Ink Rice was so amazing; rice was firm yet tender (think al-dente, just the right amount of bite!) and perfectly seasoned with the squid ink. Fried squid was perfectly fried, not oily with right amount of salt. Garlic aioli was light and complimentary, and the salmon roe topped it all off. Making each bite an explosion of flavors and textures. 10/10 would buy again.
The burger was part of the lunch specials and i’m glad i took the recommendation. Patty was a solid, smokey, tasty piece of beef. It was grilled to perfect medium rare, complimented with a toasted brioche bun and crispy fries. All flavors danced happily in my tongue. 10/10, would eat again
Ice Mocha was surprising. I did not expect an ice cream put on top, so it adds to the creaminess of the coffee itself. 9/10, i wish it was more coffee and less milk.
Service was faultless, some of the nicer service you can get in Jakarta.
Beware though, smoking area and non smoking area is not physically separated; so if you’re sensitive to smoke, you may want to reserve a good seat way advance.
Price is on a higher side (as expected), but with a taste, service, and ambience this good, i wouldn’t bat an eye on...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at the newly opened Kilo Kitchen at Ashta and I must say, it tasted just as exceptional as before. The different design and vibes from previous location in Gunawarman, here I was captivated by the charming ambiance from the moment I walked in. The decor is a perfect blend of modern elegance and cozy comfort, making it an ideal spot for both casual lunches and intimate dinners.
The menu is a culinary delight, offering a wide range of fusion dishes that cater to various tastes. Each dish I tried was a testament to the chef's expertise and creativity. The flavors were rich and well-balanced, with fresh, high-quality ingredients evident in every bite. Standouts included the succulent beef tongue taco, squid ink rice, miso honey salmon — few of my favorites — cooked to perfection, and the spicy duck & pomelo, which offered a delightful blend of textures and flavors.
One of the highlights of my visit was the coffee. As a coffee enthusiast, I'm always on the lookout for a great brew, and the latte did not disappoint. The coffee was robust and flavorful, a perfect complement to end my meal.
In summary, Kilo Kitchen offers a fantastic dining experience with delicious food, a great atmosphere, and exceptional coffee. It's a welcome addition to the local dining scene, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a...
