BGS Uluwatu - Bali Surf Shop & Coffee Bar — Restaurant in Kuta Selatan

The coffee and pastries here are simply the best — honestly, nowhere else in Uluwatu compares. I always choose BGS for my daily coffee. The staff, baristas, and community are absolutely lovely — it’s a special place with great energy

That’s exactly why I feel the need to share this. I’m leaving a low rating only to draw the owner’s attention - not because I want to. But there are some ongoing issues that really affect the experience

The seat cushions are extremely dirty. I understand it’s a surf-friendly café, and people come in wearing wet swimwear - that’s totally fine. But washing the cushions even once a month would make a huge difference. Right now, it’s really unpleasant to sit on them

The toilet also needs serious attention: dirty sink, weak water flow, no soap, toilet paper issues, broken door, and a consistently bad smell. These are small but essential details that impact how people feel

In terms of coffee and food: 10/10 In terms of space and maintenance: needs improvement

I recently visited BGS in Ubud - I know it’s newer, but the atmosphere and cleanliness made a big impact. If those small things were taken care of in Uluwatu, the experience would be just perfect

I tried an espresso - single shot and it was pretty bad, very basic flavour, mainly chocolate and overall quite bitter. It feels like they did not clean the machine for a while, so you can really taste it in the finish, really unpleasant. They served a bottle of water but in 5 min when I finished the shot already, also the water was warm, but the glass was chilled. Not sure how it works.
