Tavern De Bali Sport Bar and Restaurant — Restaurant in Kuta Selatan

We certainly enjoyed our first visit to the Tavern. The Staff were very obliging and valet parking was a huge plus. I liked the layout of the restaurant that incorporates both a dining area and a place at the Bar for casual drinkers or pre-dinner cocktails. I chose a Pizza that was not very ambitious on my part, but being the first time at the Tavern I was not sure of the standard of the food. The Pizza was ok but needed spicing up a bit (spread tomato sauce on the dough base prior to placing in the oven). My wife had beef teriyaki and found it very enjoyable. The drinks menu contained a large selection of local beers and wines all at reasonable prices The Tavern is a little gem in Nusa Dua and I am only surprised that I have never found it before. Now found, I will become a regular to watch the sports and down a cold Bintang and also take the Family for Dinner and get more ambitious with my selection from a very diverse menu. Visited 2 weeks ago - there were a few of us staying at Merusaka and Tavern De Bali was recommended by some friends. 1st night, I went myself - staff friendly enough and it was recommended that I went for the Seafood platter. Kompyang was very enthusiastic. I opted for Chicken Schnitzel and grilled fish. Everything was fine and I had a few Bintang beers.

The next night I came again - had several glasses of white wine with my wife. Then asked Kompyang for recommendations - she recommended the largest seafood platter which was 650k after I had already asked for lamb shank. Food came, and it was clearly far too much food for 2 people - probably enough for 4 adults. Bill came to 1.3m and we were disappointed that Kompyang was clearly trying to push as much / expensive food as possible. I appreciate COVID has been a tough time for everyone. Where to start...service is 5 star can't fault it but the food well that's a different story ...I had the gangsta double trouble burger it wasn't unpleasant but the burger was like it was made of meatloaf...same texture and taste .. definitely not a beef patty..add to that 2 squares of unmelted processed cheese and half a rasher of bacon and that's what your getting for 129k ( definitely not worth it ) ....wife had the Philly cheese steak sandwich...I use the word steak as sparingly as they did with the meat ...2 small squares on an open baquette with yes you guessed it 2 squares of unmelted processed cheese ....what kind of cook can't melt cheese ...that's the signature of a Philly cheese steak sandwich....bloody melted cheese ....all in all it was an half hearted attempt to dish up what should have been mouthwatering food but failed miserably.
