I rarely leave reviews, but when I do, it's for a culinary experience that has left me positively reeling. And let me tell you, this joint on the outskirts of town has done just that.
The wok-tossed hawker pad-thai with tamarind sauce was a revelation. The perfect balance of sweet, sour and spicy, it was like nothing I've ever tasted before. And the Indonesian chicken skewers with peanut sauce? Succulent chunks of chicken marinated to perfection, grilled to a smoky perfection that left me drooling.
But the real star of the show was the wagyu beef burger with Asian slaw and brioche bun. I've had my fair share of burgers in my day, but this one was on a whole other level. The beef was so tender and juicy, it practically melted in my mouth, and the Asian slaw added a refreshing crunch that perfectly complemented the rich, savory flavor of the meat. And the brioche bun? A stroke of genius, my friends. A stroke of genius.
I don't know who the mad chef behind this culinary masterpiece is, but I do know one thing: I'll be back for more. And if you're smart, you'll join me on this journey to gastronomic heaven. Trust me, it's worth it. This place is a must-visit for anyone who truly appreciates...
Read moreI discovered Fat Chow through social media and was excited to try their food. We visited as a group of eight (seven adults and one child) and ordered a variety of dishes. While the food was good, it didn’t particularly stand out.
We also brought our own bottle of wine, which was quite special to us, and were informed there was a RP 150k BYO fee. Since the family was looking forward to enjoying the wine, we accepted the charge. However, when we later requested a refill for our teapot, we were told there would be an additional charge for that as well.
This left a negative impression. While I could understand the BYO fee, charging for something as basic as a teapot refill felt excessive and overly focused on profit rather than hospitality. It gave the impression that the establishment is more money-driven than guest-oriented.
Bali is home to many wonderful places and restaurants that offer excellent service, and I’m usually happy to pay for quality experiences. However, being charged like this was not a pleasant...

We usually book as they get very busy, even if it's just two of us.
Can't go past the Tokyo Prawns, the Pork Belly and the Pattaya Ribs.
Prawns are wrapped in crisp noodles and a great savoury flavour with a neat spicy sambal on the side.
Pork belly has a great combination of Asian flavours, greens and Umami. Don't forget to sprinkle the jar of Kremes on your rice for a crunchy mouthwatering treat
Ribs are exceptionally good, Thai in style and different to what you will find in traditional Balinese cuisine. I highly recommend trying them.
Over all it's great food at great prices, in a cool but not over the top setting. Super attentive staff with a great bartender mixing some epic cocktails.
The Beijing monsoon cocktail is fantastic, A combination of rums, with a sweet and our passion fruit edge, fresh bites of jelly cubes and some frozen fruit cubes to round of the experience.. I can drink several of these in a short period of...
