La Plancha in Seminyak, Bali is an absolute gem! From the moment you set foot on the vibrant, colorful beachfront, you're welcomed by a laid-back, yet lively atmosphere that sets the perfect mood for a memorable evening.
The location is unbeatable—right on the beach with stunning views of the sunset over the Indian Ocean. It's a sensory delight as you sit on the rainbow-colored bean bags and take in the evening sky slowly changing hues. The tropical vibe is accentuated by cool tunes playing softly in the background, creating a relaxed and hip ambiance.
The menu is a delightful mix of deliciously prepared seafood, tapas, and a variety of refreshing cocktails that suit all palates. I highly recommend the grilled prawns and the sangria, both of which were absolutely delicious. The drinks are reasonably priced and the food is fresh and flavorful, capturing the essence of local Balinese cuisine with a modern twist.
Service at La Plancha is top-notch. The staff are friendly, attentive, and more than willing to help with recommendations or special requests. Despite being busy, they ensure you have everything you need and always serve with a smile.
One of the highlights of my experience was the sense of community and the friendly vibe among the patrons. It’s a place where both locals and tourists feel at home, mingling and enjoying the beautiful surroundings together.
La Plancha is not just a place to eat and drink, but a whole experience that perfectly encapsulates the magic of Bali. Whether you're there for a laid-back afternoon, a romantic dinner, or just some fun with friends, it’s the place to be. Don't miss it if you're in Seminyak!

Read morePleasant “beach hut” vibe over two levels. Sadly food is so so and overpriced and service is below standard. Better options nearby, such as B9B.
Two smoothies at Rp. 50,000++ were ordered. The banana/mango was delicious and creamy as expected. The strawberry was very tasty. Both are recommended.
That’s where the positivity stops. The “Mixto” or mixed seafood is not good value. See the photo. Note the little bowl - that’s finely sliced onion with some chilli powder. They are passing that off as “Sambal Matah” - the famous Balinese sauce. They are surely taking the piss.
See the tiny segment of fish. Less than a table spoon full. Tiny amount of octopus and a couple of small squid segments. Two medium only sized prawns. They have the hide to charge Rp. 130,000++.
There was also forgetfulness with delivering a plate and set of cutlery to the table, even after being reminded. Even the basics like this were lacking.
C’mon La Plancha, lift your game! Plenty of other decent restaurants are nearby.
Edit: Response to La Plancha response: I appreciate your need to keep costs down but your neighbours appear to be doing just fine whilst maintaining superior food and service standards.
Edit #2: went back, had the smoothie bowl. Delicious. Service excruciatingly slow but I’d order this bowl again. If you ask for no granola then your smoothie bowl becomes gluten free - safe for coeliacs.
I also attached a video of the beach scene from the ground floor. Don’t go upstairs - you won’t be able to...
Read moreCame here with the simple dream of enjoying a pizza by the beach. Nothing fancy — just carbs, cheese, and ocean breeze. Thought I’d be clever and escape the chaos by heading up to the second-floor balcony for a peaceful bite. But nope! I was swiftly coached (read: gently interrogated) by the waitress who informed us — ever so politely — that to sit up there, we’d need to spend one million rupiah. Apparently, ocean views come with a luxury tax.
So we humbly made our way downstairs, thinking maybe the front row would be more chill. That’s when another staff member hit us with another plot twist: minimum spend of $15 per person just to sit near the crowd. I was starting to suspect even the chairs had price tags.
Anyway, we stayed. Ordered the most expensive pizza on the menu — chicken and mushrooms, because we like to live large. When it arrived, we couldn’t help but wonder if they had a mushroom shortage or maybe we had to pay extra to unlock the rest of the toppings. It was… fine. Nothing special. Definitely not enough to feed two people unless you’re on a spiritual fasting journey.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the bathroom requires a PIN code and proof of purchase. “Sorry, toilet access is for VIP diners only — minimum two pizzas and a cocktail.”
All in all, if you’re into scenic views, minimum spends, and portion sizes that require a snack afterwards, this is your place. Bring your wallet — and a backup one just in case you want to breathe...
