Mama's German Restaurant — Restaurant in Kuta

Staff are extremely rude even considering their restaurant is infested with bees!

My wife and I were waiting for our meals and had to ask multiple times for something to help with the bees at the restaurant as they were flying into our food. I had to kill multiple myself, which thankfully I caught in the napkin provided as when I told wait and serving staff they didn't believe me.

They then said that we had to pay for a meal that we barely touched because otherwise they would have to pay.

My wife literally has two individual wedges from her meal and had to send her salad back immediately as a bee had flown into it instantly.

The serving staff then said that because we had ordered 'sweet food' ie juice and salad, that these attract bees. Meaning this is a known issue with the restaurant and instead of getting an exterminator to address the infestation they'd rather just leave it for customers to resolve themselves.

The wait and serving staff were very rude and raised their voices which then aggravated me to raise mine as well. The second I demanded to speak to a manager their magically was no one I could speak to and they demanded I pay atleast half the bill, even though we barely ate any of the meal. I was happy to pay for my meal as I had eaten a decent portion of it but I had not touched any of my drinks ordered at all. I reluctantly paid half and asked when the manager would be available as I will be coming back to discuss this further.

They said that a manager won't be in the restaurant until 6pm although this was 2pm in the afternoon.

I'll give them this, the food that I did get the opportunity to have was delicious but the service and lack of common sense when an issue arises is appalling.

What if someone is allergic to bees wanted to eat at this restaurant? Would they advise then that the restaurant has a bee problem? Most likely not as they didn't seem to care about that issue considering my wife has issues with bees in our home country.

Mitha is an excellent server. When I showed her that my meatloaf was burnt, without even asking she said she was going exchange it. I always order the wrong thing, and I really should have asked for something else when this happened because this was not meatloaf. In my opinion, meatloaf is made with ground meat. I even checked Wikipedia to see if there was some other version that I might not have known of. According to what I read, there isn't. What they have here is some kind of processed meat that reminds me of ham. It has a bit of flavor, but it's not what I wanted. The mashed potatoes were tasty but the gravy on the side was cold. The goulash soup was very good. You know, I was served a piece of meat that was burnt black over 50% on one side (the bottom of course). It's hard for me to imagine that a cook, chef, or whoever would not know this and still serve it to a customer. Interestingly for me, they have a bistro restaurant at another location that I had a similar problem with last time I was in Bali. There too a waitress knew how to handle the situation. Poor experience and worst service in Bali. They treat you good up until something goes wrong then they blame the problem on you. I was forced to pay 100,000+ for a meal I didn't even eat.

Overall The food is so basic, the only thing good about this place was the 24hr part but after how they treated me last night, they are not worth your business or money.

I ordered a smoked salmon expecting well done chunk of salmon and Instead got sickly looking thin slices with a piece of lettuce (not even a salad). Instead of simply swapping my dish out and correcting the mistake as most restaurants do, the server kept arguing with me until I went to the manager and they told me, "not our problem, you have to pay or your server has to pay". Then they forced me to wait to pay until they packed my food I said I didn't want.

The manager and server were incredibly rude, raising their voice at me and pressuring me to pay for something I didn't even touch. I paid but they didn't deserve a single penny.

I went next door to the Pad bar and grill and got the perfect smoked real salmon. Dont waste...
