VERY AGGRESSIVELY ABUSED BY THE SERVICE STAFF. FELT VERY UNSAFE!!!! (& it was lunchtime)

I entered smiling & offering a warm and friendly "Hello 😀😀" The place was near empty, & I thought I would give them some patronage. What a mistake!

I had NEVER been to this restaurant before. I was approached by the waiter and AGGRESSIVELY accused of stealing from the restaurant.

I explained (incredibly politely, given the aggressive accusation) that it was a case of mistaken identity, and that I had NEVER been to this place until now.

He persisted, saying I had run away without paying. I have a badly arthritic ankle that barely enables me to walk @2km/hr let alone run from a restaurant bill.

The waiter never apologised, nor did he attempt to call the police to arrest me, which would have been a logical approach, if he was so sure I was the criminal he was accusing me of being.

I left without eating, with a VERY unpleasant taste in my mouth, after having been abused in such a way.

In 40 years of a professional Hospitality & Event Management career, I have never come across such inhospitable behaviour from a "service" staff member. He should be sacked & black-balled from working in the hospitality/tourism sectors. If he stays the business will continue to suffer & not deserve to...

I ordered spring rolls and mie goreng. The spring rolls were a bit oily but tasty. However, the mie goreng was disappointing and the most expensive I’ve had in Bali so far. I chose this dish based on the good reviews on Google, but the taste was not as expected. It tasted very similar to instant noodles, the egg had no salt, and the chips were stale. Unfortunately, I didn’t enjoy the food and couldn’t finish it so I choose to not pay extra. What made me uncomfortable was that, when I went to call someone to pay the bill, I noticed a child in the kitchen. As we were leaving, that same child came out and started asking for money while a woman was cleaning the table. This situation was quite awkward and made the experience worse. We were really looking forward to eating here after hearing good things and knowing it’s been around since 1997. Unfortunately, the experience was terrible.

Out of four meals, two were inedible. My husband ordered the fish and chips, which not only looked unappetizing but, after one bite, tasted bad—clearly not fresh. My friend ordered a tuna dish that neither looked nor tasted like tuna. We sent the food back, fully intending to pay for it regardless. However, instead of handling the situation professionally, the staff came out from the kitchen, insisted the food was fine, and told us to eat it—adding that “in Bali we don’t have this, you can send food back.” They were very aggressive about it. My husband told them, “Do what you have to do, but we are not eating this. The fish is bad.”
