I meant what's left to say... First we were met at the door by a lovely chap who told us straight up that we wouldn't be seated till half 8-9. I said that's fine and they took my number to let me know when the table was ready. We headed back at half 8ish and table was just getting cleared up as said they would. He greeted us again and room our coats which was a first for us. Already great service. We were brought to a nice table in the back. Limited seating available makes the place feel very exclusive and homely. Same can be said for the menu. Quite small. All fits onto one page. A server came to us with means and also a small plated of seasoned roar peas. Very nice appetizer. Went down too quickly with 4 of us. We were then greeted by our server for the night called Steph. Lovely personality, very bubly, knew what she was talking about when it came to the menu. We had questions about the difference between the rib eye, tbone, and serloin . She came back once we were ready and mentioned to make it easier there is only Ron eye and tbone. She recommended how it should be had which is medium rare. I have my order for rib eye but after she left I wanted it changed and that was no problem for them. When we got our food we were very impressed. My Tbone steak was perfectly cooked to medium rare as were my friends rib eye. Our other friend for an entire pig of ribs. Amazing portions. The steak didn't come with sides. Have to be ordered separately. Didn't come with any sauce either and that's because IT DOESN'T NEED ANY. It's so well seasoned and render you don't need or want any sauce with it. I got mushrooms for side and was beautiful with the steak. Eventually we finished, they took our plated and we received hot towels. Amazing touch to an awesome dinner. Very refreshed. Then finished our night with the tart and the mouse ice cream. Very light way to finish the evening. Price may be expensive, but the reason is amazing food and amazing service. Top class. Worth the wait. Thank you to Stephanie our server and all the chefs and fellow workers. Great night. I'll try...
Read moreWell I am really disappointed, sorry to leave a bad review but I had a pretty disturbing expariance. Food is okay. Avarage but absolutely okay in this price range. Staff is nice , that's the only really good point to the place . But when we booked well in advance we have been asked if is there any special occasion we are celebrating . We had our 19th anniversary that evening . We got table at the Loo's doorstep . It wasn't just close to the toilet it was basically at the doorstep of the toilet , people pushing themselves through our back to get to the loo all the time we were there. It was i nightmare and when i mentioned it to the staff i was told that's the only table they have. I would take that as an excuse if we would walk in from the street and ask to find us any table . But we booked well i advance so can't imagine how we ended up by the add in table at the Loo's doorstep . Awful. I can't remember last occasion i left without leaving a tip. It must be years ago , but i just couldn't leave a tip here , why do they ask for any occasions by booking if people end up anyway at the spare table like 10 inches from the toilet door . Just an additional thing my gintonic were served in a same glass as the sprite and cola at the other table, seems they have only soda/water glasses to every beverage. I asked the sever to bring me a fishbowl glass what usually gintonic is served in but they didn't have any, what was strange but still okay. Overall i do not recommend the place , you can have same or lightly better food and much more choices in the same price range and here you might end up easily dining in the loo . Utter disappointment Just to be fair after my complain we were offered to eat at the bar stools ,but its again not what we opted for when we choose a place to celebrate our anniversary,so it was bad experience overall, there are much more nicer places in...
Read moreAs soon as I found Elbow Lane Brew and Smoke House's pin on the map I felt there was something: catchy, with his mustard yellow facade, and with an inviting menu, offering grilled meat, grilled fish, grilled sides...grilled everything! Also very culinary refined.
We went, and asked for the fish of the day: plaice, unskinned and grilled on the bone - that should have been my dinner...
How bad, though, they didn't have seats (inside) before 1h30...so, we sadly went away. But the connection with the place was too strong - came back after just a few minutes asking if we could stay outside, despite the unfriendly weather, as there were just two seats - the waiter asked for 10 mins of our patience and got us seated, covered and (if we'd ask) heated. Lovely.
We, finally, ordered a cod aguachile, the grilled plaice and a side of charred broccoli (along with their self brewed lager beer): all-was-so-good!!! The plaice fish was so juicy, with a nice charred and smoky flavor...and the broccoli, with soy sauce emulsion and sunflower seed was the perfect side. Just perfect.
We ended up with some dessert, a chocolate mousse with charred marshmallows and a burnt honey ice cream with some chilli-nut-crumble...ecstatic.
We couldn't enjoy the interior, as it was full, but just a glance confirmed it being a very worthy place to go. The grill is at the clients' view and one can enjoy the sight and smell.
The staff is adorable, available, professional and very kind. Beer's great and they seem to do nice and good cocktails as well!
Go there! And take the fish if...
