The Poor Relation — Restaurant in Cork

I went in there last night with my wife for a drink. I was shocked at the price of the drink, one pint of Larger and one vodka and white was €13.80. I politely as the girl behind the bar, is that price correct and she literally threw a receipt at me with an appualing attitude. Both my wife and I , and indeed some of the customers within ear shot were dismayed at this bar tenders attitude. We were in there to meet a party of 20 people. When we joined the group, they had exactly the same complaint. I couldn’t believe it. As a matter of fact, we ALL left within 30 minutes and took our business to another bar. They were our first drinks of the night and I honestly, have never complained in my life about staff anywhere. The price of the drinks was bad enough, but th attitude of that bar tender was not acceptable. That is the first and last time I or my wife will ever set foot in the poor relation again. To be fair to anyone visiting Cork, do not judge all pubs in Cork on this review as We have some of the best pubs in Ireland in Cork with great staff, comfortable surroundings, music, etc, but the Poor relation is aptly named. It is away from the noisier city centre. Typically filled with an elder crowd and I quite like how calm the atmosphere always is in there. Good vibes. I keep returning here for the blues music bands that they keep bringing in and they have always been swinging good. On the last visit I also decided to grab a quick bite. They were sold out on their Wings of Fire, but their chef recommended a caramel sriracha chicken wings. We gobbled it up so quickly, I completely forgot to take a picture. I don't like leaving bad reviews but I couldn't get over just how bad the service was, here. The staff were rude to several in our party. Took wrong orders and accused my friends of screwing up their order. They were slow and uninterested in general and often rude. The pile of dirty glasses just kept growing on the bar with none of them taking the initiative to get them cleaned. We were only there as it was so close to our hotel.
