Located in Dublins financial district The Harbourmaster is just a short stroll from both the bus station and Connolly, making easily accessible by train, tram, bus, taxi or car. The venue itself has a slightly rustic charm feeling a little bit mismatched, but unapologetically so . The menu is fairly simple and brief featuring classics like soup du jour, chicken wings, fish and chips and lamb shanks, but rest assured these few dishes are done very well. For my starter I ordered the smoked salmon plate, with everything you might expect- the bread, the lemon, the salmon it was entirely as you'd hope to find it . Most remarkably though was the sheer size, it really was the dish that kept giving. My partner had the seafood chowder which was very flavourful, incredibly rich and creamy and certainly not skimpy on the size. For the main I chose the pan fried pork loin with cider braised cabbage and creamy mash. The pork was incredibly tender with just the right amount of crunch on the fat. The cabbage was just the right level of punchy without being aggressive, and the mash was unremarkably mash. A hint more gravy would have set me just right, but that's not a reflection on the food rather my love of gravy and there NEVER being enough. My partner opted for the lamb shank with seasonal vegetables and creamy mash. The lamb was perfectly cooked to falling off the bone, and beautifully presented, again the mash lacked a certain something but was tasty all the same. In terms of the service the staff were very friendly, accommodating and generally happy to help, that said there were a few service errors such as the water glasses not being topped up/ no water being offered, no salt and pepper on the table, and we asked one of the staff for fresh cutlery with the main as we'd both had a fish starter, he enthusiastically nodded ...and that was the last we saw of him, to the point we grabbed our own. Obviously one can forgive we are just coming out of a period of no service, I think we're all a little rusty. Overall a lovely experience with very tasty food, we would have had dessert but we had to practically roll out of the place. I'll definitely be popping back again.

The Harbourmaster is a nice pub/restaurant with features of the former use of the building. After been put to sit on a tiny table next the stairs going down to the toilets that exhumed an unpleasant smell and steady stream of people walking past we asked to sit on a different table. After trying out what chair was less likely to collapse we ordered food and drinks. The potions where more lunch then dinner size but it was nice. Whe asked the waiter if he could call us a taxi and did so in front of us and ensured us it was on its way but it turned out to be a pretend call no taxi turned up he even carried on with the performance coming outside standing in the middle of the street making another pretend call while looking up an down the road like the taxi is just around corner. No taxi but at least we got to see a performance for the tip he received. He told us to walk to somewhere to see if a taxi is available. After a 30 min walk a taxi just dropped someone off in front of a hotel and I jumped on the oppertunity and we got our ride to the hotel. The price of food and drink at the Harbourmaster is reasonable for current times. It is a nice place to visit the food is OK.

Ok this place can be hot or cold whether food or service. I always find my experience of been greeted as negative. Example neither of the bar personal both have facial hair are welcoming and can be smart arsed comments, one always insisting that I have a Stella Artois with my wings combo when I'm on lunch hr from work. Anyhow my latest visit the other guy asked me what I would like which I told him and asked where was I sitting, with not many tables left I looked around and said over there to the left of the bar round table by the window. It was filthy and had to clean it myself and he shrugged his shoulders and smiled. He forgot to bring me my lucozade then the waitress hrings me a menu and asks what I'd like after she seen me clean the table !! I could of got a job in that place that day. Wish my experience could be better as I seen to get cold chips all the time. Hot wings sauce but wings not hot throughout. Why do I go ? Because of location to where I work. Wish it could be better.

Came here this evening for my sisters 21st birthday a party of 11 we arrived and we were greeted by a lovely lady who was so nice and pleasant she took our drinks orders and then came back to take our food orders the girl you could tell was under pressure running up and down the stairs our food arrived and one of the staff I presume was a manager arrived with fries and we asked did they belong to any specific order and he was very rude and said they are just fries…food was all eaten and really enjoyed but then we tried to order another drink and no sign of anyone coming to take the order we asked a staff member who had dropped food if he could take a drink order he said no he didn’t think so that a girl was taking the orders and he would send someone if he could…in the meantime we had been waiting for someone to take our drink order one of the party went to ask for someone to take our order and were told by the same presumed manager that they had an unexpected concert and only had two lounge staff one upstairs and one down and they would be with us when possible so we waited another few minutes and still no sign of anyone coming and this was about twenty mins later so another party went down and explained the situation and the same guy said oh the staff member who was dealing with us had left due to a panic attack and someone would be with us as soon as possible still no sign of anyone coming to take an order..my elderly nana was getting very upset an impatient at this whole ordeal we waited another few minutes and still no one came bare in mind we arrived at 5.30 this was 7.00 we had one drink each so the girl who had the panic attack arrived back full of apologies and visibly upset we requested the bill from her…the poor girl was run off her feet and being treated poorly by senior members of staff she was shaking and on the verge of tears and full of apologises when it wasn’t her at fault..so thank you to that girl Melissa because she was the only decent member of staff who treated us with decency and respect especially to my nana who is 82 years of age and in her words ruined the birthday of my 21 year old sister who came home in tears also…such a joke saying you had unexpected concert goers when you advertise for a pre concert party..will never be back again and will be telling all friends and family about this horrible experience..The music was also way too loud which was a bit much also only leaving one star because...

This is a restaurant that no longer needs to try. Its location in the IFSC, on the Luas line within feet of its doors, a short walk to the Dart & many bus routes guarantees it a robust business during most lunch/dinner hours. The restaurant is generally dirty, the handrail to the bathrooms is sticky & nasty. The ladies bathroom is usually untidy/dirty & so dated. The entrance is often blocked by smokers even though they have a smoking area in the rear. The staff are mostly poorly trained & not at all passionate about their workplace so you can wait for 15 + minutes for your bill even if the place is empty & forget being asked if your good is ok. Their wine list really lacks imagination, the lower priced wines are so bad you are better off drinking water & going else where for your drinks after dinner. The food must come from either Aldi, Lidil or some other supplier of processed foods.Totally void of flavour & its easy to decipher it came out of a package, its so poorly heated that you invariably bit down into frozen bits in the mashed potatoes..part of your entree suggested as the chef's special which you pay decently for. There can't be a chef at this place & if there is he/she is lacking in basic cooking & presentation skills. They also throw out their rubbish in overflowing skips at the side of the restaurant. It blows freely into the docks and/or it becomes fodder for the seagulls & pigeons who carry it off & drop it in the waterways to further pollute our beautiful environment. I so want to like this place as it's within feet of my home, I can't as they embrace a very low standard of mediocrity because of their location & as a result they take advantage...
