If you get the chance to frequent McGrattans, don’t.

There are pubs who have adapted to the new restrictions, Devitts and The Bleeding Horse to name a few, but McGrattans is not one of them.

Upon being seated it took 20 minutes to order a drink, we asked for menus three times and didn’t receive them. 45 minutes after being seated we were informed by our “waitress” (to call her a waitress would do a disservice to the fantastic servers we have in this country) in a rather snappy tone that in order to stay we would have to order food.

I reminded her that we asked for menus three times. Eventually one hour into our sitting she takes our order and convolutes the entire order by informing us that our first drink was included with our food. She proceeded to advise us incorrectly of the number of drinks we had ordered.

When the food eventually arrived. Nearly 2 hours after we were seated. We were greeted with a sad platter that mostly consisted of some chips that sat under a hot lamp for too long.

Further into the night, evident how irate I am, the waitress proceeds to taunt me, by sticking cocktail sticks and drawing love hearts on my napkin. Further beating a dead horse she begins whispering into my friends ears, asking for my name and try’s to taunt me in front of my peers.

I was irate to the point I had to end my night early all due to the complacency and ignorance of your staff.

This behavior is unacceptable on a public playground, let alone a public house.

Train your staff properly.

Prior to the pandemic I visited McGrattans frequently. I...

I've had to come and change my review because of the horrible experience we had today. We had already been here before with our friends. As last time, we made a reservation for the snug so we could have a quiet place to play and, of course, our plan was clearly to have dinner at the place. (Again, as we did last time). Today, we arrived at 18 and ordered some soft drinks and water. Well, it was hardly 19 when the owner came to tell us off because we couldn't just "use a snug that costs him money and only order a couple of cokes and water". We told him that we were going to order food, as we did LAST TIME, and we asked for another glass of water and the menu. The guy outright refused to give us the water, and insisted we take a soft drink or a pint. It took us a while to get a single glass, and a few minutes after we ordered the food for the table. But that is not all, because the following two hours he proceeded to stare at us through a window with an annoyed look expecting us to what?? leave?? order more food?? Last time we did have a couple of rounds of drinks even after dinner. Safe to say that this time we left as soon as we were done eating. It is really a pity because we planned on going there regularly every other week to play and now, obviously, we will not be coming back. And we would advise anyone who reads this to not waste their time. There are hundreds of nice pubs out there. Really,...

Reviewing based on a single experience during a busy match day watching the rugby.

The pub is nicely decorated and conveniently located. The floor staff that served our table were friendly and the service was prompt.

What I didn't like: -The barman charged me for a drink before checking it was in stock, and then instead of telling me it wasn't in stock or offering a refund, he simply served me 1 out of my 2 drinks ordered and then started serving other customers. It wasn't until I grabbed his attention and asked him "hey, where is that other drink?" that he rolled his eyes and said "that's out of stock. What do you want instead?" No refund offered. -There is a man in the men's toilets who offers cologne/hand towels to people as they're freshening up, and he is playing music in the toilets. There is also a social expectation that you should tip this man. Personally, I prefer the toilets to just be toilets, not somewhere to stop for a chat - that's what the pub is for. -The Guinness there was horrible. Probably the worst pint I had since the pandemic. Maybe it was only a phenomenon of match day, as I noticed that they were pouring a bunch of Guinness at the bar and leaving it sitting there. Seems like they were then selling this on rather than serving fresh pints. -It's overpriced compared to other...

McGrattans Pub is a hidden gem nestled away on a charming side street, offering a truly authentic Irish pub experience. Its prime location within walking distance of Merrion Square Park and The National Gallery of Ireland makes it the perfect spot for both locals and tourists alike. Upon entering McGrattans, you are greeted with the inviting aroma of delicious pub grub cooking away in the kitchen. The creamy Guinness on tap flows freely, ensuring you have the perfect pint to accompany your meal. The staff are not only friendly but go above and beyond to make sure your experience is nothing short of exceptional. For those looking for non-alcoholic options, McGrattans has you covered with a variety of refreshing drinks to choose from. Whether you're on the dry or have little ones in tow, there's something for everyone to enjoy. During my last visit, I indulged in the mouthwatering Bangers and Mash, a dish that left me craving more. It's no wonder I find myself returning week after week to satisfy my cravings. McGrattans Pub truly is a fantastic establishment in a fantastic location. I urge you to experience McGrattans for yourself - it's a pub that ticks all the boxes and delivers an unforgettable dining experience. Don't miss out on this hidden gem - make sure to pay McGrattans a visit soon!

Visited this delightful little venue after work the other day for a couple of quite drinks. The place is welcoming and nicely decorated so we sat in the snug for a chat. Its cosy and the staff were very nice. Unfortunately there are some downsides too. They had very little wine glasses and every one of them were dirty. I had 4 drinks there and didn't get a clean glass once, and they was even lipstick on my second wine glass, YUK. When they ran out of wine glasses we got wine in various other glasses, which wasn't great. The bathroom was also filthy, with water (I Hope) all over the floor, cracked cisterns and dirty toilet paper. I will give it a second visit and hopefully some of these problems will have been a one-off. Lets hope so.

Dublin has an unbelievable quantity of pubs but all the tourists ended up just in temple bar. Don't get me wrong, I love going there and I always take my friends visiting Ireland to some pubs there. But Irish pubs off this area can be really fun. McGrattans is definitely one of those. Decoration is class, pool tables makes the difference, always showing some sport on big TVs. It's a great place to watch games. Menu beers, wine and some nice food as well. It is a must go.
