Having hosted a sold out club event here when it was called the palace, I know the old layout very well. This club has the potential, certainly the interior, to become the best club in Dublin, even Ireland, but it has been let down severely by the bouncers. That is the only reason why it didn’t get full marks, well, and a few teething problems. They have poor customer service and that is what a lot of businesses don’t recognise as a huge factor that could drive them down & out of business. 3 mates (Business owners and property developer) turned down, even before getting to the entrance; no provocation, dressed well, it was a little disheartening. Even the revellers standing besides us were flabbergasted by the shocking behaviour and response of the bouncers who judged us negatively and told us you’re not getting in here boys, making us feel so irrelevant as human beings that they challenged them. We told people not to bother helping or fighting for us, we were used to this. Though Dublin has developed a small bit so it doesn’t happen as often, certainly not as brutal. Be mindful of your actions when power is entrusted upon you. But to look on the positive side, this venue’s renovation is a positive addition to Dublin City. Its screens are massive, the visuals on it artistic, the sound from the speakers have a lot of detail and bass you know they spent a lot of money. It also has a mini brewery where they brew five lamps (Dublin beer) which you can see on display upstairs. There’s a private room for corporate or private functions. The DJ controls the songs which controls the lights. The dance floor is huge and boy is it packed and electrifying. The crowd is a mix, you do have your expected classy folks, you might find a sprinkle of trouble makers, certainly no teenagers or youths below 23 or so. There is a huge old (24-34) vibe which is good. The bar staff seem great, but do expect infinite waiting times. Drinks are relatively cheap. Bottle service, we got two different prices, so we don’t know which one is true. This place is like wrights venue but in town and a lot better. I will say it has a 15% feel of beats of Angel international clubs which is good for Ireland. However, the amount spent on refurbishment is well spent, you can see the result. The decor, interior, creativity ambience, finish, it is so amazing you’ll be glad and amazed you checked it out, almost every single moment you’re in there. This is a game changer and these guys are not here to play. Enjoy yourself, revel in the awesomeness that has graced Dublin by these investors who aren’t charging astronomical ridiculous prices to claw back their investment like cafe en Seine However, please do not be known for being racists when the owners and main stakeholders are foreigners themselves, just because of the actions of a very few egoistic power tripping individuals in charge of looking after the door. Top 10 companies in Ireland: Apple - CEO: Tim Cook (American) Google - CEO: Sundar Pichai (Indian-American) Microsoft - CEO: Bill Gates (American) Meta - CEO: Mark Zuckerberg (American) CRH - CEO: Albert Manifold (Irish) Medtronic: CEO: Geoff Martha (American) DCC - CEO: Donal Murphy (Irish) Johnson Controls - CEO: George Oliver (American) Eaton Corp - CEO: Craig Arnold (African-American) Dell Ireland - CEO: Michael Dell (American)
To point out that the top 80% CEO's owning companies in Ireland are non-Irish yet, I find it an absolute disgrace that in October 2022, we find ourselves having to deal with first class racism at The Camden.
You stand in the queue patiently to enter The Camden only to meet the bouncer who racially profiles you visually and then proceeds to tell you "Step aside, tonight is not your night". When you politely ask why he tells you "We are only allowing 'Regulars' in". Thereafter he ignores you, walks away and allows those that meets his racial criteria in. So what's a "Regular"? And when is it "my night"?
Upon speaking to a supposed 'manager', she tells you that they "Reserve the right to admission". Thereafter another bouncer accused me that I've drunk too much (since he's a human breathalyzer test) even though I've not had a single drink that night. Based on reading the other reviews and from watching first hand how they reserve the right to not allow people of colour, this establishment will not last very long in a country who accepts diverse companies and people for economic growth.
The Equal Status Acts 2000-2018 (‘the Acts’) prohibit discrimination in the provision of goods and services, accommodation and education. They cover the nine grounds of gender, marital status, family status, age disability, sexual orientation, race, and religion.
To those of you who are trying to build an all inclusive, diverse and belonging world... Report your review.. The Camden does not belong...
Read moreMyself and my partner booked a table in the Camden for last Sunday to watch the F1 as we knew they would be showing it on the big screen. I had never been here before so I was excited to experience it, especially on a race day.
We arrived at 12:50 pm, shown to our table and given menus. They had only 2 servers in our area so trying to get their attention to order proved quite difficult. We eventually managed to order just before 1:30pm. We we're both hungry so at this stage we were really excited for our food.
We are both vegetarians and had checked the menus before booking so we knew we could eat here. Although it was only mid-day we were given dinner menus - this didnt impact us too much. My partner ordered a margarita pizza and I order the halloumi 'spicebag'. This is listen under the 'chicken spicebag' and had the V (vegetarian) symbol beside it. When my food arrived it had chicken instead of halloumi so we asked a staff member if this could be changed. We specifically told him I don't eat meat, hence why we got the veggie option which is listed on their menu. My food came back out (suprisingly quickly) with 5 slices of halloumi just placed on top. The chicken was still in the bowl, the chips were cold and the halloumi was flavourless. At this stage I didnt think there was much point asking them again so I just ate the bits that I could. At almost €12 per dish, I was expecting better.
The inside of the Camden itself is beautiful, and we really enjoyed the atmosphere inside. Overall, our drinks were nice but I was really dissapointed with the food and service. For a bill that came to €80, I guess my expectations were too high. I would reccommend the Camden for the drinks and watching sports, but I don't think I'll be dining here...
