Amazing interior, but very small seats, little space to walk out. Theatre are not air conditioned. The theatre was built for £26,000, and construction was completed in just 28 weeks. The Gaiety was opened on 27 November 1871, with the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland as guest of honour for a double bill which included the comedy She Stoops to Conquer and a burlesque version of La Belle Sauvage. Since 1871, The Gaiety Theatre has given the people of Dublin opera, musicals, drama, revues, comedy, concerts, dance, festivals and pantomime. Amid the laughter and tears, through times of war and times of affluence, The Grand Old Lady of South King Street has remained a vital and ever changing expression of Irish culture and Irish society. Long home to the familiar faces of Maureen Potter, Niall Toibin, John B. Keane, Anna Manahan, Des Keogh and Rosaleen Linehan, whose bronze handprints, are set into the pavement in front the theatre, together with those of Luciano Pavarotti and Brian Friel, are testament to the longstanding association these great artists have had with Dublin’s...

Really disappointed with the customer service received, my boyfriend and I attended yesterday’s Riverdance show at 3:30pm.

Since the start of the performance, the lady in front of me sat forward which obstructed my view of the stage for the whole first half of the show.

I raised this issue with the usher during the interval. He took note of where we were sitting and said that he would inspect once the second half of the show started.

After twenty minutes into the second half, the lady in front of me continued to obstruct my view by sitting forward.

I exited the aisle and approached the usher whom I was speaking to. He said that he took a look and didn’t think she was obstructing my view and that he could raise this to his supervisor if I was still unhappy.

The fact the usher didn’t take any course of action meant that I had to sit by myself in rows that were vacated during the interval. I feel this is really poor customer service and more action should have been taken in order to rectify this situation. It also really impacted the experience...

Enchanting Evenings: Riverdance at the Gaiety Theatre

For my first time at the Gaiety Theatre, I was enchanted by its beauty and elegance. The historic charm of the theatre creates an atmosphere of sophistication, and the friendly staff made my experience seamless by guiding me to my seat with warmth and professionalism. 🎭✨

I had the pleasure of witnessing the Riverdance show, an exquisite performance that left me in awe. The talented crew delivered a spectacular display of skill and artistry, showcasing not only the richness of Irish culture but also incorporating influences from around the world—a delightful surprise for the audience. 🌍💫

The entire experience was nothing short of magical and inspiring. From the stunning choreography to the mesmerizing music, Riverdance is a true masterpiece that transports you to another world. ✨💖 I eagerly look forward to my next visit to the Gaiety Theatre and highly recommend this unforgettable experience to all. You won’t...

Went last night to see Riverdance 25th anniversary (still perplexed as the show aired in 1994). Anyways we had tickets for the ground floor, which we got cheap! The entrance for the ground floor brought you straight into a bar which was like a waiting area for the theatre. It was all a little strange, and what didn’t help matters was the one guy working the bar, which had developed a very large queue! In my opinion I guess it’s safer to keep the drink coming a bit more steadily? We eventually got in and got seated, the show was great! However our cheap seats were cheap for a reason! Also some loud narcissistic (maybe drunk/high) Americans behind us who felt they needed to be seen and heard as much as those on the stage! Overall a fairly enjoyable night for €25 a head!
