Zakura Ranelagh — Restaurant in Dublin

The restaurant is not pregnancy-friendly, and unfortunately, the manager lacked basic managerial skills. While the food was good as always, we were cramped into a small space despite having reserved a table in advance. There were high tables available, but you can’t expect someone who is 8.5 months pregnant to sit there. The wait time for food was also unusually long. Overall, a disappointing experience.

Update - Thanks for your response. Just to clarify, it was my birthday, and the experience was genuinely disappointing due to the lack of basic accommodation. If high tables are standard for bookings, customers should be clearly informed in advance—especially when it’s visibly obvious someone is heavily pregnant. A little effort to “try and manage” the situation better would have gone a long way. I hope you take this feedback seriously to improve future...

I had a mixed experience today in Zakura. Food was delicious, I even shared with my boyfriend how amazing it was. However, I had a frustrating experiences with the staff. I was seated initially at the bar area, then the other waiter asked me to leave saying it was booked. Then the other waiter asked me to sit in the corner at a very small table looking into the wall, that I refused and was going to leave. Then they found a seat for me. When I finished the first dish and was eating sushi, the waiter started asking me if I finished and if I needed takeaway. It was so rushed and I felt like they were waiting for me to leave. I went with three friends to celebrate a birthday. The Volcano Maki was a little spicy and super delicious – also very Instagram-worthy! The shrimp tempura was just as good as the ones I had in Japan. We also shared the Crunchy Salmon Roll and the Salmon Cream Cheese Roll, and both were perfect for sharing. The salmon was so fresh it just melted in my mouth!
