I had the full Hubbard breakfast and it was a bit disappointing.
Two sausages, a small ramekin of boiled mushrooms, two skinny rashers, and beans in tomato sauce with no flavour.
We were expecting the classic sweet beans, but it was like chunky tomato purée with some white beans. Weird.
Plus, one bread-egg waffle with an uncooked egg on top.
I was missing bread, either the usual or sourdough; we didn’t get any bread or butter.
Also, there wasn’t any salt, pepper, or condiments at the table.
We were a party of four. Three meals came quickly, but the fourth arrived ten minutes later.
We wanted to eat together, so we waited.
The food was already room temperature when brought to the table, and after waiting, it was a bit cold.
Final thought:
The service was quick and friendly, and the food presentation was nice.
However, it lacked some essentials, and the egg was uncooked. Nobody asked us how we liked our eggs.
Toilets were joined male and female, one door had missing sign so we just guessed where to go, trying all doors. Floor messy, missing towel and electric dryer was broken.
Great spot in Ranelagh, with some room for...
Read moreGREAT food, BAD service.
Were sat promptly despite being busy and only doing walk ins, but from there service really took a turn. We’re given a jug of water for the table (no glasses given till about ten minutes later) drink order taken with food order however drinks took at least 15-20 minutes to arrive with the food taking around 35/40. Either wouldn’t be a problem had the staff informed us of the wait but really wouldn’t recommend if you have something booked for afterwards. Food delicious and almost worth the wait but no staff checked on us during our meal to ensure the food and drink were okay nor did they ask when they cleared the plates. Second round of coffee arrived promptly but once again were not checked despite needing a refill of the water. It’s understandable to have a wait on a weekend for brunch, but if every weekend is busy, wait staff should be better prepared. Last thing was the separate staff who took the payment prompted us to tip without knowing how our experience was which...
Read moreI had a not-so-nice experience at the cafe, primarily because of the food. The atmosphere is brilliant, and the service is welcoming, but they kept forgetting what they were asked for - like tap water or the bill. However, the food was… meeeeh. I had a special cheesecake and one special lunch with an omelette tortilla.
Firstly, the cheesecake looked very unappealing, but that’s not the main issue. The pineapples on top felt like they came from a cheap Tesco can of pineapple slices. The cheesecake had burnt sides that were literally noticeable - it was really burnt and awful. The cheesecake reminded me of a cheap casserole from an Eastern European school, but in a bad way because there it would cost 1 euro at most. For the price it was, I would value it at literally 1 euro, minus 50 cents for the burnt sides. Baaaaad😩
Secondly, the lunch special was a bit better, but it also felt super basic and cheap for 15.75€. It felt like school food in a basic school, worth a maximum of...
