Donkey Ford's is the real thing, an authentic, unpretentious chippie in an inconspicuous little shop that does nothing but fry fish and chips and sausage and serve them wrapped in paper for take-out meals. We thoroughly enjoyed our cod and whiting with chips, though it was disappointing to find that the cod was some sort of pressed, pre-fab fish and not the authentic thing. All the people doing the frying and the delightful woman taking our order couldn't have been nicer, too.

The magnum opus of fish and chips takeaway in Ireland. The square cod, battered sausages, whiting... they are all immaculate, with plenty of salt and vinegar on the chips too. And of course you will get all this wrapped in paper like a parcel, it is a classic.

Amazing. Chips were the best I’ve had so far on my trip. The sausages and fish were crispy and salty. Stopped by twice on my trip and love it both times. Great service. Fast service. Don’t care I couldn’t sit. I walked and ate it.

I went there on weekday afternoon... A few people in line.... friendly and efficient lady serving.

Had Whitting in batter, chips and a coke, all for seven Euros. Served wrapped to takeaway...food was hot.

Chips were okay but not good. The two pieces of battered Whitting, was bland and fairly tasteless.

I did ask for freshly fried Cod first, rather than the square shaped battered cod in the warmer display cabinet....as a previous reviewer had said to avoid, but the lady serving said only battered Whitting was the option available as an alternative.

If this is the 'best' 🐟 and chip shop in Limerick, then it's time for a proper traditional fish and chip shop to be established.

Save yourself, a journey and a...

Always loved this place. Went there couple weeks ago and brought my kids there the whole way from killarney and to be honest the chips were very oily and soggy to which I said fair enough it's just the first time ever happened so said I would give it a chance but last week I was in limerick with my son and I said we would go for chips and battered sausages mmmmmm. I was so disappointed. The chips were so dirty looking, oily and soggy. The sausages were ok but honestly I not going to waste my money there anymore. Sorry for such a bad review but it's twice it happened me now. Going to have to find somewhere new when I visit...

If you want one of the most authentic/traditional Irish fish n chip shops this is the one. If you've just moved to Limerick or just.visiting then you might not know of this place but everyone in Limerick does. It's a favourite of the locals and often huge lines of customers but don't be put off by that because they fly through orders and are used to lots of customers This isn't your modern take 0f fish n chips this is grass roots local business Ask any local for directions and you'll be surprised that everyone knows what you want and where you need to be to...
