I am a food delivery driver, and today I had the unpleasant experience of picking up an order at Spitjack restaurant in Limerick. When I arrived, I noticed that the access to the back entrance was partially blocked by a car, so I went to the restaurant’s reception to pick up the order. At the reception, the order I needed to collect was already on the counter. I showed the order number to the restaurant manager, but she was extremely rude and insisted that orders must be collected from the back of the restaurant. We got into an argument because my order was already prepared and right next to me. I informed the manager that the back entrance was inaccessible, filled with garbage, smelled bad due to urine, and had flies. I mentioned that this could contaminate the customer’s food and that having to wait for about 10 minutes for the order to be ready in such conditions could also be a health risk for me. The manager responded that it wasn’t her problem and that I had to collect the food from the back, even showing me a map with sarcasm on how to get there. When I went to the back entrance, I met a fellow delivery driver who had to place his bag on the ground, amidst the trash, to pick up the food. The worst part is the potential risk of customers getting sick from possibly contaminated food in the future.

Lovely interior and staff. Food was cold and mediocre considering it’s quite pricey. Would come back for tea or coffee :) Edited review: Initially gave 3 stars but had to change to one star. Went for there for dinner wasn't really hungry so wanted to order something small but the waiter said only option was to pay 35 or 39 euros for the set menu and no option to order an individual course. I ordered a salad and a fruit salad and paid 35 euros which seems like an obscene amount to pay for it. Usually set menus are meant to offer some sort of discount but eating in this restaurant was extortionate. The same salad is on deliveroo for 14.95 so I'd recommend ordering that way to save money. The staff were lovely but a bit overbearing as there was too many of them and the place was almost empty, so they were constantly coming up to us and checking if we were alright. I don't blame them as they were probably bored but maybe if the prices were more reasonable the place wouldn't be so dead. The food is okay but definitely too expensive for what you get, Lunchtime is a lot more reasonably priced but I would avoid this place for dinner.

I have such a mixed experience of SpitJack. I highly highly recommend them for breakfast or brunch, their take on Chicken and Waffles is exceptional and unique. 5 stars, even more than 5 stars, for breakfast. But then there's dinner. You would think this awesome breakfast place would be an awesome dinner place too, right? Wrong. It's basically what you could make at home except very expensive. I also got this dessert that was a tour of the Caribbean in rums paired with a mini dessert. It was four rums and two chocolate truffles. Amazingly presented, badly advertised. There are some amazing staff in there though. Ronan, who I believe is a manager in there, was super helpful with a reservation issue. He even called the Cork restaurant in case it went through to them and I would be charged as a no-show on my card.

This is for a delivery order. Just a warning- don’t order the ribs if you’re hungry. I ordered a half rack of ribs. What I got was an appetizer. I have included a picture of what I got. I put a 2 euro coin on top for scale. The serving was approximately 2 inches by 4 inches. The bbq sauce was sour and non-descript. I never could figure out what it was supposed to be. I also got the rotisserie chicken dinner which was fabulous. Chicken perfectly done. Delicious assortment of crisp, steamed vegetables and creamy mashed potatoes. I’ll definitely be ordering this again. I just wish I wasn’t so disappointed by my much anticipated ribs. The glory of the chicken raised my expectations way too high.

I have mixed feelings when it comes to the SpitJack! Beautiful decor and great location, that’s for sure… but when it comes to food, meh, nothing impressive tbh. I honestly find it overpriced for what’s offered on the menu and served. I’ve tried several items off the menu on different occasions, I’d say it might be a nice place for brunch kinda thing (even though it’s expensive) but I wouldn’t recommend it for proper lunch or dinner. Their dessert menu is basic but I had a nice cheesecake there the other day. One of the staff members made it pretty clear that we are not allowed to sit down unless we order “FOOD”, that was very direct in my opinion. We always order food but anyway!

A big group (14-16) of us visited Spitjack for a special occasion on a Thursday evening. The place was fortunately quiet and one of the ladies waiting us was really handled our large table well. Went for the 2 course menu with the vegetarian options. It was quite filling. The bruschetta was decent but the halloumi burger was really really delicious. Tastes the raspberry cheesecake, courtesy of a friend, for dessert. It was not good, have had much better cheesecakes at significantly lower prices elsewhere. A good place if you are willing to shell out the money for the ambience. The food is good but expensive.
