Lotus Restaurant — Restaurant in The Borough District of Wexford

I recently visited this restaurant while in Wexford to attend a production at the National Opera House. As we were short on time, we ordered a small takeaway for three people — just two portions of chips and two sauces — and asked if we could sit briefly at a table to eat before heading to the theatre.

The restaurant was quiet at the time, with only two other tables occupied. One of the staff kindly said it was no problem for us to sit (we were only going to be 10–15 minutes). However, shortly after we began eating, a different waitress approached with a noticeably unfriendly manner and told us we couldn’t eat a takeaway on the premises. When we explained that her colleague had said it was fine, she reacted rudely, rolling her eyes, huffing and walking away.

A manager then came over and insisted we leave, stating that “the owners would give out to them”. This not only created an awkward situation for us but also made the staff appear unprofessional and undermined the colleague who had originally been accommodating. It was disappointing to be made feel unwelcome, especially after a simple and polite request.

We ended up eating outside on the street, which wasn’t ideal. For context, the small order came to nearly €25, which felt expensive for what we received.

11/12/21 Ordered food through just eat app at 4.51pm and the order was accepted and delivery given as 6.05. At 6.30 no food so i rang the restaurant. They had missed my order. It will be out to you in the next 15 mins. At 7.45 i rang again. Wasnt really given an excuse. Both staff i spoke to couldnt understand why i was upset even. I asked them why do they accept orders they cannot fulfil? No answers. So now she tells me she cannot refund me. So no food 3 hours later no apology and 23 euros down to boot . Anyway i then have to try secure a refund by phoning customer service for just eat. Which i managed eventually Anyway here goes. Honest opinion. The lotus house is not managed properly. The staff are inept untrained and incapable of providing food on time. They continue to accept orders even if they do not have the capacity to meet these orders. Chaos then ensues. Customers get angry but do not get food. Id guess on average the waiting time is an hour late and thats if you get it. The food if you get it is not bad. But if you are hungry dont bother . Fast food this aint. A disgrace tbh. This is the first negative review i have given anywhere. But this level of incompetence deserves it. Ok your busy but stop taking orders and making food promises you cannot meet. Simple...

Awful service me and my partner were in wexford for the day went in at 9 o'clock they said they were closed at 10pm we said we could leave if its too late they said no it's OK when we were seated she told us again they are closeing their doors at 10pm it was like if your not finished were still clothing, how rude if it was too late just tell us it wasn't a problem. One of the waitress was sweeping the floor right beside us for the 40 mins that we were there for, people were shouting in the door at the waitress every couple of minutes it was awkward couldn't enjoy your meal I been to lotus in carlow very good service and the food was beautiful, we ordered ribs they were the driest I've ever seen, curry was ok I would not recommend lotus in wexford town if your looking for a nice meal with a nice atmosphere and the price was a joke for...
