I gave this place several chances... Pre-pandemic I found a hair baked into my cookie. I said it to the waitress and she just said 'OK' and looked at me as if to say 'And?' but it was taken off the bill. Was totally put off and never went back until by chance a few weeks ago. I got the avocado toast which was lovely except for the amount of lemon in the guac but all-in-all not terrible. However quite expensive for what we got. But partner liked their pancakes so we ended going back the next week. A blonde ponytailed woman barked at us in passing to take a seat whilst we were trying to find somewhere. Got the tiniest, most wobbly table in the middle of the spot (last table left for two people), waited quite a bit to be served and eventually got given our tea with no teabag, just hot water in a teapot. Milk is always on the table so it was warm. Partner asked for his sauce on the side of his meal and this seemed to confuse the waitress... Food was put down with little to no care in front of us and even after a wait the pesto I asked for on my wrap was not put on even though I saw the waitress write it down. Staff seem to be perpetually on their first day and miserable, except for the hostile blonde ponytail woman who seemed rushed off her feet despite several things going wrong.
Also ordered tea/coffee and two blueberry muffins from the Dinn Rí last week and the girl behind the counter said to the one serving us that she'd get the muffins from Brooks. She did not tell us this or consult us, I just overheard. I wish I had told her not to bother because the muffins were burnt and dried out. Don't have muffins on your menu if you directly do not supply them... Too many chances were given, will never darken...
Read moreMy partner and I recently visited Brooks Carlow, and unfortunately, our experience was far from what we expected. From the moment we arrived, we felt uncomfortable due to the behavior and comments from the staff. At one point during our visit, the staff member responded to my partner giving his order first by saying, "Ladies first, did you ever hear of it?" This comment was not only unnecessary but also incredibly embarrassing. He felt singled out in an uncomfortable way, as if we were being chastised for something as trivial as the order of who spoke first. It was a completely inappropriate remark that added to the overall unwelcoming atmosphere. The service was not only unwelcoming but also dismissive, which completely overshadowed our visit. We won't be returning and wouldn't recommend it based on this experience. There are plenty of places in the area where guests are treated with more warmth and...
Read moreHave been here a few times and the food has always been good. Ordered a portion of chips on my last visit with the order and half eaten cold portion came out. Obvious it was someone else's half eaten portion as the chef said they hadn't sent any out to our table. 😬 but the lovely laura from Ukraine was so helpful and bubbly that we really didn't mind. She was a breath of fresh air which is so nice to see these days. She was so polite friendly and had lovely friendly words to say to us. Considering all other staff couldn't seem to crack a smile this was so nice. She was attentive and looked very hard working all the while with a huge smile. Worth her weight in...
