Dined here for dinner after having lunch at Left Bank, which was great!
Ordered duck aranchini. Out of this world. Excellent combination of sweet and savory flavor and textures with the crispy fried arancini and mango, ginger and bit of remounted. A truly excellent dish!
Also had house soup, a mushroom and leek I believe. It was a smooth soup, very flavorful and offered with bread as well, which was nice to complement. Perhaps a tad salty for those sensitive but didnât diminish from the dish overall.
I had the new lamb shoulder with mash potato, broccolini that was super tender and other seasoning. The lamb was great, crispy outside, bit of the succulent fat that I love, the gravy was nice and little pearl onions. A great hearty dish and a solid portion that could satisfy a big guy.
The prawn and scallop in a vermouth cream sauce with Parmesan sauce, truffle, capers was just okay. The scallops and shrimp were soft, as though they were tossed into the sauce raw and just simmered. No searing, so the texture was just very soft, didnât get much of the truffle oil flavor but the sauce itself wasnât bad. It was mild, Parmesan flavor and we added the side potatoes to it to soak it up.
The dessert of bread pudding with cranberry, vanilla sauce and ice cream was a great finish!
Staff was attentive and great decor. Still highly...
Read moreMy husband and I decided to have a lovely Friday dinner in Kilkenny, driving all the way from Dublin for the occasion. After a quick search, Google recommended "Rive Gauche Restaurant", and weâre so glad we took the suggestion!
Even though we didnât have a reservation, the staff kindly seated us at a lovely table. The menu was full of delicious French classics, and I was excited to introduce my husband to proper French cuisine. I ordered the "Coq au Vin" for him and the "Coquille St. Jacques"for myself, along with a "Baileys coffee" to enjoy with our meal.
The food was absolutely delicious that my husband happily finished both our plates since I was too full to finish mine. The Baileys coffee was a delightful accompaniment, and the service was impeccable and friendly, attentive, and welcoming.
Overall, we had a wonderful experience and would highly recommend Rive Gauche to anyone looking for authentic French food in a charming setting. Weâll...
Read moreWe really, really enjoyed our Tuesday evening here. We loved the old parisienne decor and the wine and drinks out on show although sadly we were not drinking. The staff were very good, professional but friendly, a nice balance. The food here, as is often the case here in Ireland I find, was just amazing. I think it is the quality of the ingredients to hand. I had beef cheek ravioli, no pasta, it was delicious and, like all the food we ate, well seasoned - no need for table salt. We also had the lamb shoulder, it fell away from the bone completely and was delish. The compressed chicken was well recieved too. Finally desert was a Chocolate and acidic fruit (passion fruit?) combination that sent us away with a spring in our step. The price was well worth it. Good quality food, unusual, delicious and a little daring deserves to be...
