Statham’s by Pembroke Kilkenny — Restaurant in The Municipal District of Kilkenny City

As a group of 6 we had the most wonderful evening in Stathams. The sun was shining and although it was Friday 13th I do believe it was lucky for us. We had dinner booked for 7pm , upon arriving early we were delighted to be invited to sit out in the court yard and enjoy a relaxed cocktail before our dinner. The cocktails were amazing and so too were the staff as at no time were we rushed into our table. So dinner - we choose a mixture of the bites to share among us all and this was perfect as we had just the right amount. So glad as the mains were just absolutely amazing. 5 Steaks each cooked to the desire of each individual and everyone was raving about them. Absolutely the most beautiful steaks I have tasted and presentation was class. The steak came with the most tasty kale and onion puree and beef jus - seriously heaven. One of the guys had Hake which was the fish of the day and he was equally delighted with his choice. There is great options on the menu so everyone will be satisfied and most NB happy. Desserts choose was Roast Banana Ice cream - wow !!! you have to try and my favourite was the marinated blackberries with oatmeal biscuit. Some of the gang choose another cocktail instead of dessert . The thing I love about this night was the atmosphere , there's a buzz around the hotel, the food is centre of attention in a warm family sense cupped with outstanding customer service. This hotel really need to train other venues on their customer service as i have never experienced the warm and attention provided elsewhere. The staff want to make your night special. If you're coming to Kilkenny Statham's is a must and if you are living in Kilkenny Statham's is a must. Beautiful food, amazing chef, fabulous staff and the ambience is heaven. Only wished I was staying over that night . Looking forward to meeting up again here...

Oh my giddy aunt- I would actually put this meal in the Top 5 meals I've had so far in my life. Anyone who knows me knows that I'm not a huge fan of mushrooms or anything with that texture, however I love anything pasta-like and Italian, which includes gnocchi. Holy mother of God, I've never tasted anything like the mushroom ragu with crispy gnocchi. The crispy gnocchi was divine, I have no words and 400 words to describe this dish! I can't stop talking or thinking about it! The flavours were beautiful. I would consider myself a fast eater but despite how hungry I was, I managed to slow down and savour every bite because I didn't want the bowl to empty! I have eaten in Statham's several times before, mainly for lunch/brunch and they have been delicious. I particularly chose Statham's on this occasion to get my friend to try the hash browns as a side but I was well and truly blown away by this main! I hope it never leaves the menu, I will be so upset if it does! Aside from my very obvious grá for this dish- the staff were fantastic, it was the Saturday of a busy Paddy's weekend, after the Six Nations match. They were so fab whenever we needed assistance and gave a great wine pairing for the dish- so much so, we had to take a picture of the bottle for future reference! All round 10/10 experience, I love Statham's and always recommend...

Was really excited to try dinner at Stathams, unfortunately the night was a bit of a disaster.

We were seated by the host who told is they were very busy and the food would be delayed. We were OK with waiting a bit. He took our order but almost ran away before we just about managed to order drinks.

I didn't like my starter which I communicated to a waiter who thankfully took it off the bill. The other starter was good. For mains we both had steak which took a while to come out but it was 10/10 really nice flavour.

No one checked on us the whole night. I would have liked another drink but the waiters were nowhere to be seen. After our mains we sat with empty plates for a long time. We realised no one was coming so we just went up to the bar to pay and skipped dessert. Really disappointing service.

We'd like to come back because the steak was great but hope the service can...
