Disappointing. Personalism is lacking and the prices are extremely high, even compared to the same type of place in New York. Place is very Scandinavian in style, minimalistic, probably draws its inspiration from La Cabra (even the beans are imported from La Cabra). These type of places usually put emphasis on professionalism and expertise of the coffee makers. However, the coffee makers weren't really experts. When asked about the coffee beans they weren't able to tell anything about them without reading the details on the label and reciting them. Very small selection of food, nothing to write home about. Finally - the price! V60 costs between 40 and 50 nis. This is an outrageously high price. To compare - a bigger portion served in higher quality in La Cabra in New York east village, same type of place, same beans even, costs only 8 USD. That's about 30 nis. Will not return. There are better place for 3rd wave coffee, both in terms of quality and...
Read moreMany people claim that HOC serves coffee on high price, I can’t deny it, BUT, sometimes for high quality you just need to pay more. As a coffee lover, and after so many time I was disappointed of many coffee shops here in Tel Aviv, HOC is absolutely one of the best coffee shops that exist out there (at international level). The taste, the professionalism, the accuracy, the experience. I couldn’t find any mistake, neither with the coffee or the pastries. Thank you very much!
for casual people that doesn’t “live the coffee world” and just want to enjoy a great cup of coffee, I highly recommend consulting one of the baristas there and find together the type of coffee that will fit you. As I saw, HOC uses lightly roasted beans which for many people could taste a little sour, this is not a mistake, it just how these bean should taste like.
Hope you all enjoy an amazing cup of coffee and have...
Read moreCome here if you really want some serious speciality coffee. It’s incredibly well made, articulate and carefully designed. I was informed by the very very kind and welcoming manager that coffee is always made with a double shot, so you can really admire the taste. I’m not a sour/bitter coffee enjoyer, but there was something in that espresso, and it could very much be all the careful weighings and delicate talk about coffee that got me there, but there was something in that espresso, that was deeply enjoyable. I also had a strawberry and blueberry pastry which was delicious, even though I must admit the dough was a little dry and the cream a little too stiff, but all in all, a great pastry. The vibe is calm, chic, minimalist. A beautiful spot a coffee lover must visit in Tel...
