Ristorante Fronte Mare — Restaurant in Alghero

The service seems quite chaotic. It started off with being asked 5 times in several minutes whether we wanted water. We had ordered one bottle of still and I ordered some green tea, the first time they asked. In the end we got the bottle and I got a black tea, instead of a green. I only found out after I'd put the bag in the pot. Therefore I decided to drink it anyway. For my main meal I ordered linguine vegetariani, I got linguine with shellfish and olives. I said "this is not what I ordered, I ordered vegetarian linguine". They told me that this was the vegetarian linguine. I guess I didn't pay enough attention at biology, because apparently shellfish seem to be a form of plant. Since I'm not vegetarian, I did eat it in the end. The location is nice, right in front of the beach. The food quality is good but it's overpriced as the nice interesting sauces have been replaced by a boring soya sauce and the quantity reduced (we ordered their "nudi e crudi", crudite de mair). The service was really bad: very slow, very messy (some dishes never arrived) and some comments were extremely rude (the waiter didn't realize I could understand her Italian) and needlessly so, as we were very polite and never complained for the poor service we were receiving. My wife and I have visited Ristorante Fronte Mare several times just for drinks and were always tempted by the delicious-looking dishes we saw being served. This evening, we finally decided to stay for dinner, and it turned out to be an excellent choice.

The food was fantastic—my wife had a traditional Sardinian pasta, which was rich in flavor and perfectly cooked, while I opted for the Tuna, which was fresh and beautifully prepared. Both dishes exceeded our expectations.

The service was equally commendable—friendly, attentive, and made our dining experience even more enjoyable.
