I heard one guest compare the area around the hotel to Beirut, wel you can ignore that, the area has many local residencies, mostly apartment blocks, muxed with some hotels, shops, cafes, even a repair garage or two and it has the feel of an area recovering from hard times, probably because it is! It can be a little worn and tired, but far from the devastared impression that one guest had, I like it because it is genuine, the promenade is long, well kept and is littered with interesting bars, cafes and restaurants, the views are outstandingly picturesque. ThevRiviera is nice and convenient for the beach and local restaurant, less than 5 minute slow stroll to the nearest one,. Very clean and spacious rooms. The breakfast got better as I got used to how they work it. It seemed limited to quite a small selection of cooked/fried foods(frankfurter type sausages, small cuts of streaky bacon, potato and brocholli fritters, some excellent small pancakes) anaemic looking bread rolls that are really quite fresh and pleasant, and two types of cereals whose shelf life may have passed, but I'm no expert on how it should taste. The hot water for tea is probably not quite hot enough but I don't like my tea too hot anyway, and cold fresh milk is not always apparent, but if you ask you get straight away. They have hot milk, but I for one don't care for hot milk in fresh tea. The selection of fresh fruit and cakes is good, plenty of coffee to choose from, would be ideal for an afternoon tea. Breakfast closes at 10:30, which is great if you're having a relxing break and enjoy a sleep in after the night before. They offer freshly cooked omelettes/eggs ( the omlettes are very good indeed) finding anyone at the station is not guaranteed, but again just ask and the staff will always respond quickly. In all, not too bad, the staff are friendly and helpful, particularly at the pool where hot and cold snacks are available, along with coffee, beers and soft drinks, all brought to you by the friendly barman. The hotel is set just away enough from any night or major road noise and each room has good a.c. unit for a...
Read moreFantastic hotel with wonderful staff (special mention to the cleaners and breakfast crew). Breakfast is really tasty, fresh and offers a wide range of local products. The rooms are spacious, clean, have a great adjustable AC. The rooms that do not offer direct sea view still offer a great view of the private pool and the mountains (and the sea sometimes too!). The pool is quite big and despite perfectly catching the sun, also has nice shaded spots under the lemon trees and rose bushes. There are plenty of sun chairs and umbrellas. There is also a smaller pool for toddlers or just to sit and read with your legs in the water. The location is wonderful, a minute from the beach but not on the seafront, avoiding loud noises. Only 15 min walk from Mari Posa beach with dreamy sand dunes and pines and 20min walk to Alghero old town. There are countless bars, cafes, restaurants along the sea front and a great cycling lane. The hotel offers a reasonably priced rental of bikes with insurance. Bikes are great quality and are all terrain which is perfect if you plan to explore the many archaeological sites and natural reserves of the area. Finally, the hotel is located near the major public bus routes to go from and to the airport in less than 30min and for less than 2euro. Overall great value and quality, could not...
Read moreAlthough in general the hotel seems okay, the lady at the front desk is the kind or woman who is waiting for the world to come to an end, and the sooner the better. I booked a stay for a crew, totalling 18 rooms over 4 nights. In the end there was one room that I didn't need. It was not expecting at all to get any money back since the cancelation policy was very clear at booking.com.
However, a lady comes in and asks for a room for the night, and was being told by Satan's wife that they had no rooms left. I told her that they could use the room I booked since I was certain it would not be occupied.
This however was completely impossible according to the vicious lady, for.. no reason. Mind that the room was booked and paid by me and that I had the confirmation. She couldn't explain why.
Then I said that I wanted to check in that room myself, which was also impossible. Money back then maybe? Nope.
I was not looking for any money back, nor did I wanted the room. If anything the old witch could have made double money. But all that happened was unreasonable ranting. Absolutely unbelievable reasoning.
I'll take my business...
