Very disappointed with this restaurant.
Four of us visited last night to celebrate my birthday. We were happy initially. The waiter serving us was very pleasant and made us feel very welcome. We ordered 2 starters, and as they were large we shared them between to 4 of us. We then ordered our mains. I had the lasagna which was very bland. No taste whatsoever. My partner and one of my friends ordered the chicken Milanese, both of them got very very sick throughout the night.
What totally ruined our night was another waiter…bald moody guy…..complaining right next to us to our original waiter about the fact we only ordered 2 starters between the 4 of us. He was complaining in Italian, he probably assumed we couldn’t understand being that I’m English and the other 3 Brazilian. This was incredibly unprofessional. I’ll order exactly what I want, I don’t care at all of you think it’s right or wrong.
The original waiter was then replaced with this moody bald man. Who was rude for the rest of the night. Constantly staring down the chest of my female friend making her feel uncomfortable.
It took 20 mins from asking for the bill for it to arrive. It took me having to shout across the restaurant for it to get it.
I would have got better Italian food and service in London.
If you like attentive service and quality food, this is not the...
Read moreThis was the perfect dinner to finish off our long weekend trip to Alghero!
We had been recommended to come here by our boat captain and guide couple who we had met earlier in the morning when we took their boat tour. I asked them what their favourite restaurant in Alghero was, and without hesitation they replied “Marco Polo”.
We had done some extensive research before our visit so we were somewhat surprised to have a restaurant suggested to us that none of us had heard about, but we put our trust in the skipper and we were so thankful that we did.
The restaurant is charming and authentic, with no other English speaking guests (we visited in June) and a welcoming staff despite the fact it was more of a local place
The food was the best we had in the 4 days we were there, only the freshest seafood, all pasta homemade, just like the skipper had told us. For dessert, we enjoyed an amazing homemade Myrto, a local digestive made from a variety of blackberries only found in Sardinia. Everything on the menus is amazing, you cannot go wrong, but we particularly enjoyed the pasta, the Alghero octopus, the swordfish ceviche, and the tuna tataki.
The prices were extremely affordable, the food was fresh and delicious, and the service was warm and welcoming. I cannot recommend this...
Read moreWe do NOT RECOMMEND this place! We passed by chance and decided to eat there, thinking that it looked nice. The food was ok but not worth the price. We had an entry, main courses, dessert, coffee, water and a bottle of red wine. We communicated in italian as good as we could. At the end, when we checked the bill (which was the highest we paid since arriving in sardinia even if the food was by FAR not the best) we noticed that the waitress had put EUR 20.00 for the wine instead of 15.00. When we asked her, she said ok but then started to talk aloud in sardinian dialect and very agressive tone about us and then also said something very angry to the other waitress. First, we were not sure it was about us but there was no one else in the restaurant and nothing had happened inbetween, so as shocked as we were, it must have been about us. We were so much in disbelief that we didn’t know how to react. When we paid, the waitress was making fun of us. We never before felt so humiliated in a restaurant. Very very horrible, even more whwn considering the fact that food was mediocre and expensive and that we had consumes for over EUR 70 at two!!!! HORRIBLE and very very...
