This cafe deserves nothing more than zero star. First, I visited the shop today hoping to dine in. There is no staff available for offering a table. The queue in the counter is chaotic. After spending some time waiting in the queue, I got my way to the cashier and bought 2 cakes for myself and my partner. The cashier staff was very impatient and impolite. I got my cakes, found a table and seated. The cake is essentially tasteless other than some plain sugary taste. I doubted the 4.4 stars in Google here was just scam. Anyways, while I am still finishing the cake (so as not to waste any food), the waitress suddenly comes and told me that my cakes are for takeaway only and dine-in was a separate menu with different price. Okay while I was going to explain I can pay the price difference (as I just wanna be seated and have some rest before getting back to the ship), the waitress shouted at me saying "we have no tables left" and she asked us to get out of the shop immediately. She is very rude and I felt insulted. And this was just the first thing triggered me to write this review. Second, I am writing for the lady in the table next to me (in case she is not going to write a review here and I feel obliged to let people know about the following). That lady found a piece of probably glass fragment in her gelato and she spoke to a waitress there for her anger. The waitress just told her it was just a piece of plastic, not glass (...huh what? Are we supposed to find plastic piece in Italian gelato? lmao). That lady was then very dissatisfied and requested to speak to a manager. After some moment a manager-like man came in, looked at the piece of colourless stuff, and said "it's not glass, just a piece of plastic that fell of from the machine". That lady was then so angry and argued with him for a while. Anyways, this cafe is definitely a shame to Amalfi and Italy, and DO NOT...

Since it's in the centre, there is a lot of tourist creating a crowd here and for a lovely reason, nothing could be better than experiencing La Dolce Vita in Amalfi with a wonderful freshly baked Italian pastry and a decent cappuccino.
The fact that it sits in the very centre with the most lovely patio and large centre fountain playing a tune of dulcet water splashes, it really makes you realize why Amalfi is considered one of the most incredible coastlines in the world. The bakery itself is pristine with every type of sweets your tastebuds could desire. A fluffy soft cake filled with Amalfi lemon crema .. incredible. The rich creamy ricotta tinged with candied citrus in the cannoli... amazing. Add on a dark roast cappuccino and you'll ever wonder why people would want to leave. I will admit that the cappuccino was good but not great.. it was missing a balance between milk to espresso. It was more similar to cortado.
They do have a bit of their chocolate and gelato offering here but just go up the hill and indulge in one of the best gelato on the coastline. It's the real deal and if you see the lemon or any of the nut flavours (almond, pistachio, or hazelnut)... definitely get it! It's quite incredible here.
As for the service, it's more a luxuriously long service... for those who are on tour buses blowing through Amalfi, this probably would not be the spot for you as you'd be staring at the watch seeing the minutes disappear and you'd wonder if you're going to be left behind. Then again, seeing the blue skies, the incredible Mediterranean sea, and perfect gelato or pastry to go wtih that view... maybe that isn't...
Read moreWe visited here on Friday 19th June, having just seen this on Paul Hollywood we were excited to visit. We had just eaten up at Trattoria e Pizzeria da Meme and we’re looking forward to dessert on our way back down. The staff were SO rude, family of 4 and our four legged pup we went to sit outside at one of tables to take in the scenery. This one waitress came out of nowhere as my husband placed our remains of lunch on the table and blurted our “you can’t sit here with your pizza, you have to leave” we explained that it was a takeaway from lunch we weren’t going to eat it there we came for dessert. She just walked off didn’t actually then proceed to seat us. We moved chairs around to sit our group while being looked on by the tall creepy waiter with glasses. We went in to have a look and were now met by four more faces. We looked at the menu and were told rudely this is the takeaway price you have to look at the menu on your phone to sit. We know that there are to different prices in Italy but it really was just the way they spoke. You are working in a restaurant in Amalfi one of the highest tourist areas and it was if they didn’t want the tourists in there. We reside in Italy so are not technically tourists but still. Needless to say we left with our business and takeaway pizza boxes and ended up going by Pasticceria Savoia and grabbed some amazing Gelato. We will not return to Andrea Pansa on our next visit, not paying for...
