Il museo diocesano di Amalfi è di recente costituzione ed è ospitato nell'antica basilica del crocifisso costruita intorno al IX secolo d.c. Lo spazio della navata centrale è quasi interamente occupato, salvo la zona del presbiterio, da una collezione di opere e di arredi sacri che destano stupore e meraviglia agli occhi di chi li guarda. Un magnifico paliotto d'altare settecentesco inciso in argento e sbalzato fa bella mostra di sé al centro della navata. Di grande preziosissimo artistico è la statua quattrocentesca in legno policromo raffigurante la c.d. Madonna dell'Idria nonché quella raffigurante Sant'Andrea che data XIII secolo.
