I had the best meal of my life tonight. I was wandering down the street and looked up and saw a Michelin 2019 at this hotel. I went in and inquired about the restaurant and made a reservation. I was surprised at how inexpensive the menu was.
Sensi was incredible. I had a great little corner table with a nice evening view. I started with the best Prosecco I’ve ever had. The bread was insane. Then the Chef sent out small bites of three other antipasti. I then had La Capasanta (scallops) to start. It had so many flavors just bouncing around. My entree was La Spigola (sea bass) with all kinds of flavors that were phenomenal palate pleasers. I ordered dessert and before that came they sent over a “pre dessert” of soaked raspberries and then mini desserts and the one that was a meringue was craaaazy! I had a Moscato Rosa that literally makes you saw wow when you first sip it and paired beautifully with the desserts. I have got to find a place sells this. Finally my dessert came and I couldn’t finish it! It was a hazelnut mousse in this chocolate and nut encrusted set of wafers.
The wait staff was attentive without being overbearing. The real treat was being asked if I wanted to see the kitchen and meet the Executive Chef. Alessandro Tormolino was so gracious as well as his chefs. That wasn’t just dinner. It was a food journey!
This was a special experience because Until then the meals I had, with the exception of one were just ok. I’m so happy that I looked up and saw the sign at the right moment! #foodie #food #italianfood #michelin #excellentservice #amalfi...
Read moreThe Sensi Restaurant in Amalfi has been one of the best ones we have been to on the whole Amalfi coast. They offer several different tasting menus with a big variety of dishes and courses and to be honest everything sounds amazing. So in the beginning it was a lot to go through, but the staff is very helpful and not pushy towards getting the order which was nice. They even explained to us that we can exchange courses and play around and mix which is nice, too. In the end we have chosen the 4-course traditional menu which includes a lot of typical dishes from the area, but made in a Sensi-kind-of way. I really had the best pasta there and the dessert was also incredible. The sea bass was super fresh. The first dish is an "amuse-bouche" and it is served in a very creative way. The terrace is small, but beautiful. Especially when the lights on the trees are on and it becomes dark. I booked the restaurant some weeks in advance and we managed to get one of the last tables outside on the terrace. Therefore I recommend to book early in order to sit outside. We asked the waiter for a nice white wine from Italy with an oaky taste similar to the Chardonnay wines from Burgundy in France. We really got recommended an amazing wine which was 100% our taste and what we desribed. Also this does not seem to be normal in the area as a lot of restaurants do not really know about their own wines and what they serve. The restaurant is slightly expensive, but for me it was worth it. I can recommend Sensi to anybody who...
Read moreMy wife and I wanted to get dinner here on our honeymoon as we saw the great reviews from others. When we went at 7:15pm, we waited for a good 5 minutes where a bunch of waiters definitely saw us but no one came out. This was incredibly frustrating since the room was empty. Finally a waiter came and acknowledged us and as we asked for a table of 2, he said they were all booked up and couldn’t seat us. I was dumbfounded because literally there was no one in the room and a bunch of tables available. I ask how is it possible when I see literally all the tables available? The waiter said that the tables are all individually booked at different time periods of the night and they close at 10:30pm. I then went to another restaurant for dinner but I came back at 9pm to see if in fact it was full or not. To no surprise, the room was still empty with the tables on the terrace being used. Took a picture because I felt incredibly insulted as I was literally lied to by the staff members. Couldn’t tell if this was because we were Asian and they didn’t want us or if they were only seating people in the terrace. Either way, I was lied to and wanted to share the experience. I’m sure the food is great but my experience unfortuntely was non existent. BTW, if you are travelling to the Dolomites, Suinsom which won a Michelin star in 2020 was a great experience. Staff was fantastic, the tasting menu was great and the chef even came out to say thank you and hi, can’t...
