Dining at L’Olivo at Anacapri was nothing short of an exceptional culinary experience. From the moment we stepped into the elegant surroundings of this Michelin-starred restaurant, we were enveloped by a sense of refined luxury and genuine warmth that set the tone for the evening. The ambiance is a perfect blend of modern sophistication and island charm, providing a tranquil backdrop to what would become a memorable gastronomic journey.
The experience began with a warm welcome from the staff, who immediately made us feel at home. As we were seated, we were introduced to our server, who provided a detailed explanation of the menu. Chef Migliaccio’s passion for his craft is palpable in every dish. His commitment to sourcing the finest local ingredients and transforming them into culinary masterpieces is evident in each bite.
Each course was meticulously crafted, with flavors that were both complex and harmonious. The dishes were not just food but a work of art, each beautifully presented and with a story that spoke to the region’s rich culinary heritage. The standout dish was undoubtedly the blue lobster, paired with a delicate citrus emulsion that highlighted the freshness of the sea. Every course was a delightful surprise, showcasing Chef Migliaccio’s creative genius and deep respect for traditional Italian cuisine.
The evening was further enhanced by the expertise of Vincenzo Riccio, the sommelier. His knowledge of wine is nothing short of extraordinary, and his ability to pair each course with the perfect wine was truly impressive. Vincenzo guided us through the wine list, which featured a stunning selection of both local and international wines. His recommendations were spot on, each glass perfectly complementing the flavors of the dishes without overpowering them.
The service throughout the evening was impeccable—attentive without being intrusive, and always delivered with a smile. The team at L’Olivo ensured that every aspect of our dining experience was flawless, from the timing of each course to the seamless wine service.
In conclusion, dining at L’Olivo is more than just a meal; it’s an experience that engages all the senses. Chef Andrea Migliaccio’s culinary artistry, combined with the expert wine pairings by Vincenzo Riccio, made for an unforgettable evening. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or simply want to indulge in some of the finest cuisine Capri has to offer, L’Olivo is a must-visit destination. We left the restaurant not just satisfied but truly inspired by the incredible craftsmanship and passion that goes into...
Read moreTL;DR: Disappointing service and food, not worth the trip!
I’ll start with the positive: the view is spectacular, especially during sunset. The ambiance was also notable (music, decor, overall table setting presentation).
That is where the “positives” end. (Also worth noting that we had high standards as they tout their 2 Michelin star rating).
First, the service was one of the worst I’ve ever had - both in NYC (where we are from) and in Italy (18 dinners on this trip to compare):
our water glasses were empty for long periods of time on several occasions; same with our wine glasses (we had full bottles sitting 5 feet away) — we saw another table actually pouring their own drinks as they got tired of waiting empty glasses were never cleared, throughout our entire 2.5 hr meal, until requested crumbs were never cleared off the table even after asking lastly, when we spoke to the head waiter to discreetly share these complaints, he rolled his eyes, and another staff member laughed at us
Just overall not what you’d expect from 2 Michelin stars.
Now for the food: we ordered the vegetarian tasting menu and overall the food was OK! I didn’t eat one course because I really didn’t care for it; unfortunately we still paid for all courses despite no substitute offered we weren’t blown away by any dishes and would not detour to come back for the food dessert was the best part
Overall, not worth the trip, and they actually happened to ruin what could have been a phenomenal evening with terrible service.
Would not...
Read moreI went here with my wife for a last minute honeymoon dinner. Extremely underwhelming. We came here September 13th at around 8pm. This has been my second time at the restaurant since 2018. I absolutely adored this place. They had amazing live music. I remember a woman that would sing opera with an accordion and light up shoes. The staff were extremely attentive. Crumbs off the table immediately. It was the little details like this, along with the food that made the experience so memorable and amazing. This was the reason that I came back in 2022 after Covid. I have talked so positively about this restaurant to all my friends. This place WAS incredible. Tonight not so much.
We came in and we’re greeted in a pleasant way by the two ladies at the front. I was excited an nostalgic of the last time I was here. Things started to take a weird turn. We weren’t given a wine menu to start. We had to ask for one. Once we ordered our food the amouce bouche was really good. The food was very good. After all, it’s a 2 Michelin star restaurant. The little details like many crumbs were left on the table and not wiped. We saw the servers wiping other tables but not ours. We had 2 courses come by and still the table was dirty. We tried taking pictures and videos of the food and the staff wouldn’t wait and rush the videos. I usually don’t care about this stuff. But this is a 2 star place. Things like this are what makes the overall experience pleasant especially after spending 400 euros.
I was really dissatisfied and disappointed in my...
