This place is a real treasure. I went there for dinner with my mother and my 3-yo son after passing by during the day and checked their working hours with the owners. There’s no possibility of reservation, which worried us a bit as we excepted the place would be very crowded on a Sunday night. When we arrived (around 20:00), we asked if we could sit and eat at their restaurant and one man (they don’t really have waiters, it’s just the family members doing everything) kindly set up our table by the side and we have a great front view on the lady cooking for us and other guests. The place itself wasn’t actually crowded and we were the first sit-in of the evening (surprisingly). They asked us what we wanted to eat and we agreed on a bit of everything they would cook for us (there’s no menu!) and it was the best meal I’ve had recently: we tried their specialities as well as orecchiette con la brasciola, together with some home wine, water and ice tea. Everything was so tasty and the feeling like eating at their home was the best part. I really recommend this place for everyone who wants to eat and feel like a local, without the pretentious service of much more expensive restaurants where you would miss the feeling of being at a typical Bari home and family. I will definitely go back when I come...
Read moreSuper place for someone not local. Hidden in Bari 'vecchia' citta. We came across at 9pm in February, and it was so big queue outside, and we were only foreigners in the line. Signora and her 2 other cooks are cooking all this food outside their house, while standing in the line you can observe this magical process of preparing this small local foods. It is bit problematic to order if you don't speak little in Italian. We succeeded to order and get our food in 5 minutes. But as all tables were taken we went to sit on the bench in small square where the place is located. We had 4 small local 'something' like small pizza calzone cooked in boiled oil and 0.5L of local wine, paid for all 12.5 EUR.
I know the place is famous for local food orecchiette, but we haven't understood how to order them, and as it was Sunday when most of local places are closed, maybe it was not a right time to come.
I suggest to visit the place take and try these local street food, feel the atmosphere, enjoy the time in the line and enjoy the mood and the...
Read moreCute looking trattoria on Largo Albicocca, with friendly reception. They offered an air conditioned space inside which was cool looking and cutely decorated. However there were lots of people and it didn't seem much cooler, until people left. The AC is too small for the space filled with bodies. Though it was cooler than outside for sure. No oil and vinegar for bread. I ordered a complete meal and I liked the Bruschettas fried bread and fresh arugula but otherwise underwhelming. Same for the four small sides they gave me as a course. It was OK food. But not amazing. They didn't offer cheese for the pasta. I could have asked. But it would have been nice...
