We wished to be good but it was quite awful. We have seen this osteria for the first our day in Bari and we think that looks so lovely. But when we tried to get a table, they rejected us: it is close, come after 8 in the evening. So we tryed again in the evening but we've been rejected again: it is full. I dont know why but together with some friends we decided to make another try and we called for reservation. Bad mistake. First of all, they said it is full but we were only us inside and another table with two girls. Second: we've been waiting toooooooo long for starters. Actually we waited one hour which is not so nice when you are hungry. Finaly when i got my order i discover that the mega speciality - rice with potatoes and mussels - is bitter because potatoes were burned. Another order was home made pasta with mussells. You know how many mussels were in the plate? Only 5. The horse meat in red sause was good and the bean soup with chicory as well. But wine .... oh .... i did not sleep all night because of acidity. The owner (i think he's the owner) atitude was rude and unpolite. Over all, the price is too high for what it offer. Shame on you guys, you have a beautiful.place but a horrible management. We've...
Read moreI first visited this Osteria 18 years ago and it’s just as delicious today as it was then. Do not be dissuaded by these bad reviews from other tourists who clearly are expecting a different kind of restaurant or cannot read what is explicitly stated on the menu. This is an Osteria-it’s mostly local barese family fare. The menu for primis (pastas) clearly says the pastas are in orders of two. This is not uncommon in traditional italian places. So if you go and are a couple, you will both be getting the same pasta. Period. But it will be delicious. I highly recommend you get the antipasto della casa-this is where this place shines. The orecchiette con cavallo ragu is also delicious. The owner has always been kind in a curt, barese kind of way-he’s like a New Yorker. No nonsense. Don’t expect lots of smiles, but you will get attentive service. And they have always been accommodating but we also always respected this restaurant, rather than try and force it/them to be something else. I come here every time I visit Bari and I often witness poor behavior from other tourists who I’m sure then leave bad reviews which is...
Read moreIf you want to experience the real taste of Bari, you need to go to this place! Amazing local food, heart portions, great wine and typical Italian atmosphere. Everyone was extremely attentive to us and took the best care of us. We started with apetizeres which were a great Variety of what this region has to offer - soooo delicious and different taste! I've never had such crispy and special olives - just wow! Pasta was also so good - something I've necer tried before, even though I lived in Italy for 5 years. This experience remind ed me about the times when I was a guest in my Italian friends' home, eating the most amazing food. Grazie ragazzi per questa esperienza bellissima! Complimenti per la...
