Saporé - Cucineria Pugliese — Restaurant in Bari

Today I visited Sapore for the second time because it was amazing! Tomorrow finishes my trip in Europe (Crete and south of Italy) and this one was/is one of my favorites places to have dinner! We (were 2) ordered the roll phyla and the Poke Mare. Both delicious! I specially recommend this poke because it is a mix of 4 pokes, it could be enough for 2 people (And it’s only eur13) and it’s a bomb of flavors in your mouth!! They have a system to let you choose the ingredients of your own poke (which I didn’t understand, lol), but I think the ones mentioned in the menu should work perfect as Poke Mare did. They prepare everything in the moment and everything seems super fresh. I don’t usually make reviews but i am right now at Sapore (11 PM Sunday) and almost all tables are empty while the pizza store of the corner is full of people. I cannot understand why they are not here!! It might be related to a cultural thing, but my recommendation is that when you are tired of pasta and pizza, give your self the chance to try this fusion experience. An argentinian...

The meal itself was pretty good - panino di polpo fritto - fried octopus sandwich. It was not greasy, a little salty as it should be, and the size of the octopus portion was nice - there was some unctuousness with the green avocado sauce as well, so the whole thing ate well. But, the service was sort of stuttering throughout the night, a little inconsistent depending what table you were at. They gave me a place setting but no plate to eat on, so I ate dinner out of the paper box at this sit-down restaurant... tbh i would find the sandwich hard to eat by picking it up with my hands because of all the sauce. Spectacular typical Barese cuisine.

Lorenzo was a sensational host and he made all 6 of us feel at home.

Plate after plate we were enchanted by their fresh high quality food.

They gave us several fresh starters including polpette della nonna, sgagliozze Barese and a very tasty melanzane parmigiana.

I tasted my wife’s orecchiette alle cime di rapa which was a surprise - try it!

The spaghetto al frutto di mare was delicious.

Lorenzo put his heart and soul in looking after us with such professionalism - I thought he was the owner but he is a hard working and devoted waiter.
