Sopravento da Sergione — Restaurant in Bari

We arrived in Bari and found this restaurant through our initial exploration of the city, the prices seemed reasonable so we gave it a shot. the service itself was not notable, i’m accustomed to the mediterranean approach to restaurant service so the blasé stance was fine with me. However, I had ordered the ravioli which had been stated on the menu as 14€. The dish arrived and I was met with a very small portion (about 7 pieces and two pieces of shrimp), and was very much under cooked. This would be a usual annoyance if it hadn’t of been continued with the issue of the bill. The bill arrived and I learned I had been charged extra for this dish, when i enquired about this charge i was informed that they didn’t have the fish for the ravioli that was listed on the menu and changed it out for a more expensive option. There was no effort made to inform me and when I had asked about this charge, all I receiver in response was a shrug. This was my first dining experience in Bari so I of course had higher hopes in general, but I have never been left with genuine outrage of the minute portion sizes and extra charges when I had ordered based on the menu pricing. I’m unsure whether this is a general tactic of the restaurant or pure lack of awareness on our waitresses part. Between myself and the friend i attended with, we have 9 years of experience in hospitality and we were both dumbfounded with this experience. In summary, I would not recomend this restaurant as they appear to find seedy ways to overcharge you while also serving ridiculously small portions. Ero andata in questo locale piena di aspettative, viste le recensioni lusinghiere lette, anche perché, essendo celiaca, molte di queste recensioni tessevano lodi sul senza glutine, che per me e per chi viaggia con me è una grande gatta da pelare. Dalle recensioni pareva si potesse scegliere tranquillamente dl menù ciò che si gradiva e, anche quando avevo prenotato telefonicamente specificando il mio essere celiaca, ero stata rassicurata con queste parole: "Ma certo signora, non c'è problema, a stasera". Innanzitutto, il servizio è stato pessimo, con persone sì molto cordialia completamente allo sbando sulla gestione delle comande e del resto, tant'è che due persone sedute all'esterno, mentre noi aspettavamo, erano andate via infastidite, senza dir nulla e senza pagare nemmeno l'acqua già arrivata al loro tavolo. Al momento dell'ordinazione, ho chiesto un piatto di spaghetti con del pesce ma mi è stato subito detto che quella sera c'era confusione e che li avrei messi in difficoltà, allora ho ordinato una porzione di patate al forno e un'insalata di mare. Come pane, mi è stato portato un pacchetto di salatini senza glutine (esistono anche le monoporzioni di fettine pane, mah...), l'insalata di mare era pessima, basti pensare su 6/7 gamberetti presenti, 3 erano completamente surgelati, la signora ha detto che era perché l'insalata (preparata a detta sua la mattina) era stata in frigo, ok ma quei 3 gamberetti erano surgelati, le patate al forno, bruciacchiate e palesemente non di giornata (con le patate lo capisci se sono state cucinate già il giorno prima) ma ripassate nel forno a chissà quanti gradi perché l'olio bolliva, ed io è da quella sera che ho problemi intestinali che non riesco a risolvere e che nulla c'entrano con la celiachia, quell'olio era diventato tossico. Io, purtroppo, se non avessi mangiato almeno quelle sarei rimasta digiuna. Abbiamo poi preso un dolce ma la mia mousse al cioccolato era buona come consistenza ma anche quella sapeva di vecchio. L'unica cosa buona di tutta la sera, mangiata però solo da mio marito, è stata la frittura di solito calamari, perché anche il suo primo, la pasta alla Sergione era terribile (anche a vedersi), delle orecchiette che galleggiavano in un formaggio liquidissimo, dei pezzettoni di pomodoro a crudo e un quintale di polvere di pistacchio. Mio marito che ha uno stomaco che digerisce anche le pietre, da quella sera è molto disturbato, anche il suo tiramisù era stantio (i savoiardi asciuttissimi). Io davvero non capisco come tanti possano dare 5 stelle ed elogiare tanto questo locale, possibile che sia capitato tutto a noi? Bah...! Non ho foto perché non è mia abitudine farne ma mi sono pentita di non averne scattate. Comunque, secondo me, questo è il tipico locale da programmi di Cannavacciuolo, completamente da rivedere. Specifico ancora, che qui il problema della celiachia non c'entra nulla, è proprio pessimo in quanto a gestione e qualità dei cibi, è senza dubbio il locale peggiore in cui abbia mai mangiato, compresi...

I really wanted to love this place. And I feel bad about writing this review. But as I based my choice on the reviews, I want to add. It is small, nice location, the service is very good, very helping and kind; the food - I tried 3 dishes, including tiramisu - is average. The rice + potato + mussles dish had only 3 mussles and lots of rice. Rice was tasty, but still. :) Grilled veggies were good. Tiramisu was sadly the worst I've tried in my life. Tasteless and not sure it had mascarpone. Italy spoiled me in expecting any food at 25 euro bill per person be super tasty and unforgettable. Sadly, didn't happen with this place.
