One of the worst experiences I’ve had, ever. I am the type of guest who will always respect the staff and be the type of person they want to fill their space with. Service industry is a super difficult and I don’t envy their challenges, especially with people who are just, well, awful. Today, I had a Negroni here (which I enjoy and know well) and they clearly messed it up badly. It’s maybe the only bad Negroni I’ve had in Italy. It tasted like straight gin. My guess is that it was a mistake and they simply messed up the ratio. I kindly pointed out that it tasted like mostly gin and if it’s possible to switch it for four roses over ice (yes, not an order you’d typically place on Italy but I wasn’t confident of their bartender). I was very very kind in how I asked. And would understand if they denied. The server didn’t speak English well (and I’m in their territory after all, so I don’t expect or need them to). But I felt I communicated my concern and polite request to switch. They took my Negroni (which I had 2 sips of) and brought me the drink I requested instead.
When they brought the drink, they brought me another check asking me to pay again. When I said I thought that I simply switched the drink, they said “no, you want a different drink, you pay for it”. I would have been fine if that’s the case and if they did NOT take away my first drink (even though it wasn’t great). But now, I’ve paid for one drink that they took away and asking me to pay for another that was supposed to be the exchange. Is what it is, move on, right? The biggest problem is that the server started yelling at me in front of the entire place. Outside, with a beautiful view (yes, a very touristy spot in town and we usually avoid the tourist traps, but the view was great), and I’m sitting there being calm and doing my best to use my couple Italian words and be kind, thoughtful, not raising my voice at all. At that point, another server comes up and starts yelling even louder and I said “please, we’re all friends here, etc etc” and tried to say I’ll take care of what’s needed (so I can move on). But they just kept going, yelling as if something in their day upset them and they’re laying it fully on me. I paid their extra drink even though they took my first drink away (barely touched) after this wildly rude person kept attacking and saying he’s the manager. Then I went inside to hopefully speak to the real manager and let him know that it would be good to not treat customers this way, that I was being yelled at blah blah and he cut me off (clearly being spoken to already by the other two) and he was worse than the other two and was going off on me, saying you pay for a drink you had and also for the second. I explained that I never drank the first drink but he didn’t care. I wanted to make a point that it is not kind to communicate with customers this way and he took money out and said here, take it. He did this while waving around the cash..I of course didn’t take it. That’s not what it’s about. No one should treat others this way. Especially when those are there to support and when they are not being rude themselves.
Unfortunate to see a place like this have a prime location in such a beautiful part of the world. Do not support them. If you want a drink, and like wine, head down to Enoteca Cava Turacciolo and ask for Mateo (but everyone is amazing). They are incredible people, full of love and amazing liquids that will feed your soul.
For this restaurant though, awful staff (at least the 3 I spoke to), poor drinks. Stand there for a moment for the view and do not...
Read moreVicious, racist, thieves!!! Avoid! A 24 year old women who attended my wedding ordered 3 drinks for 50 Euro but never received her drinks. After she asked again for them they said she did and to prove she paid. They took her receipt and crumbled it up and threw it at her! When this happened a male from my wedding party saw this and they began arguing. Soon there after they were throwing everyone out ready to attack us all with bottles, glasses and belts!!! We have so many videos of which show my wedding party calm and so confused as to why these psychos were going crazy on us ready to hit men and women! I’m an American who lived in italy and traveled all over it before deciding to have my wedding in lake como. This was the wildest behavior I’ve seen. They were extremely aggressive and did not like my Husbands English friends or our friends of color. You know it was racist as they started signing their hooligan soccer songs at us. Literally was like a mob movie where ppl acted so crazy you knew you should leave before they kill someone. Overall the service in bellagio was just poor they don’t care about their tourist who they make their money from… southern Italian hospitality is so much better. If anyone would like to see the videos feel free to reach on my travel blog...
Read moreWe visited this restaurant today as two families with young children (around 5 years old) and were deeply disappointed by the way we were treated by one of the waiters. From the beginning, his attitude toward us was noticeably different compared to how other guests were treated. He was impolite, dismissive, and made us feel extremely uncomfortable. It felt like we were being discriminated against simply because we are not European.
What made this even more surprising is that the waiter himself was not of EU origin, yet his behavior toward us was cold and unwelcoming.
The most upsetting moment came after we paid. Instead of showing basic courtesy, the waiter threw the bill onto the table without a word. This lack of respect, especially after we had just paid for our meal, was completely unacceptable and very disappointing.
Restaurants should be places where all guests—especially families with children—feel welcome and respected. Unfortunately, that was not the case today. A single staff member can seriously damage a restaurant’s reputation, and we hope the management takes this issue seriously.
We will not be returning and hope that future international guests will be treated with the dignity and kindness that every...
