We ate here for lunch to try and get away from the crowds in the shopping areas. My wife and I approached the stairs to enter and we were asked if we had a reservation. We did not (the restaurant was mostly empty) as we have not needed lunch reservations anywhere in Italy during the 3 weeks we were there. Fortunately, they had “non reservation seating” just outside on a terrace that was actually quite nice. We could still see the lake and watch the boats go by while sitting in the shade. The waiter came to take our order rather quickly (faster than most Italian restaurants) so we placed our order for some drinks to start as we were still looking over the menu. The options were good. Lots of variety if you want fish, pasta, soup or salad. My wife ended up ordering the filet tenderloin with a side of fries and I ordered the fish of the day. Her meal was €35 and mine was €25. We had one beer and on Spritz. The spritz here was €17 btw, which I was willing to pay since it was our last day in Bellagio and I didn’t mind splurging a little.
The surprise was at the end. Like others have mentioned, I asked for my bill and the waiter responded “the check?” and I said yes. 10 minutes later a different waiter came by and I asked in Italian “Il conto per favore?” This time the waiter came back with our check and instead of getting the broken machine spill that others have gotten, we were told we could pay €99.00 with the credit card, OR use cash and pay only €90 (which was our total without a surcharge) and we could decide to leave a tip with cash. We didn’t have cash so we paid the €99 with the card and left. It’s sad that this is how they treat customers. Any time I see white table cloths in a restaurant in Italy I get a little nervous. This time I was ready for a steep price but not a shady business transaction at the end of my meal. Just bring the machine over, let me use contactless payment like every other restaurant in Italy and let me move on! I can’t recommend this place and it’s too bad because the location is great. The food is mid and the service is just,...
Read moreRistorante La Punta, perched in the charming town of Bellagio at Lake Como, is a feast for both the eyes and the palate. With a vista that elegantly frames the three islands and authentic Italian cuisine that impresses, La Punta stands out as a memorable dining destination.
The first thing that strikes you about La Punta is the incomparable view. Overlooking the three islands, the restaurant provides a panorama that's as delicious as the food on the plate. This captivating sight alone is worth the visit, creating a dining backdrop that is both serene and splendid.
The service, though initially slow, steadily improved over the course of our meal, evolving from sluggish to satisfactory. It's clear that the staff is committed to ensuring a pleasant experience, even if they might take a bit of time to find their stride.
The food, however, is where La Punta truly shines. The freshness of the ingredients is apparent in every bite. The Burrata, in particular, was exceptionally fresh and full of flavor. But the dish that stole the show was the Cantaloupe with Prosciutto - a classic Italian combination that was executed to perfection at La Punta. The sweet, juicy cantaloupe paired with the salty, rich prosciutto created a flavor symphony that was both simple and sublime. This dish is an absolute must-try for anyone visiting the restaurant.
In conclusion, Ristorante La Punta offers an enchanting dining experience, backed by spectacular views and authentic Italian cuisine. While the service may start off a little slow, the phenomenal dishes and the breathtaking vista more than make up for it. Don't miss out on the Cantaloupe with Prosciutto - it's a culinary highlight that will leave you...

We were at this place at 3pm, a Tuesday afternoon.
Only 4 tables are occupied and there were 1 waiter and 1 waitress, at least 1 bus boy and a hostess.
40 minutes after we placed our order, There was no food coming, While 3 tables that came after us got their full meals.
We asked the hostess first, she said that she was wondering the same thing ( but never bother to check with us till we asked), she went away and came back to tell us that they did Not put in our order into the system!
No apology, she simply shrugged and said “ it is what it is!” And then when we express our disappointment and upset, she said” it is not my fault! Do you want the food or not?l”
Talking about great customer care, here is the opposite example of what NOT to do to an upset customer: no explanation. No apology, no sympathy and no solution at all!
And then our waitress came, who was not around for the whole 40 minutes after taking our order.
And her word is:the order wasn’t put into the system.
See this now: this place’s employees have neither ownership or responsibility, nor guts. No one admit that someone made a mistake, and just expecting mistreated customer to eat the shxx as is.
When we asked to speak with the manager, the answer is: manager is on break, not around.
When we decided to leave without this meaningless conversation, the hostess simply saying: oh, you won’t be able to find anyplace to offer food at this hour.
Thank you so much for the BAD taste in the mouth, What a shame, such a bad attitude in such a...
