My fiancé and I came here to eat on our last day in Italy, we were really looking forward to a good carbonara before leaving the country. We had read good reviews from other customers claiming the carbonara was the best they had ever eaten.
The ambiance, wine and service were all very pleasant. However the food was extremely disappointing. Please avoid our mistake in ordering multiple courses as they are far too large. Carbonara resembled scrambled eggs and is not something any Italian chef would have been proud of. We also ordered one of the daily specials.. lake fish with tomatoes and basil was the description… this was actually another pasta dish( would have been helpful to be told that as I had ordered an carbonara to start) no mention of being a pasta dish on the menu. This dish consisted of minuscule pieces of fish with a hard outside crust, not very appealing or enjoyable. Trying to pick out pieces of fish and tomato in a sea of bland pasta was very difficult, also can’t remember seeing any basil.
To conclude, nice view and polite service very poor food. Very rarely do I not finish what I have ordered and paid for in a restaurant but this time I only ate 20% of my food…
If this is the best carbonara you have eaten you may want to broaden yours horizons. It was more like bacon and eggs… perhaps it appeals to...
Read moreI will begin by saying that my entree was comped. I appreciate that and wish to recognize that the manager did see that I saw some problems (I did not complain but did not finish my dish). The issues however were numerous: Left alone for 30 min before being approached to order. I had a bread basket, cheese and oil but no plate to combine them. The item I asked for was no longer available. This happened to the table beside me also. Perhaps notify guests if a dish is not available prior to their review of the menu and decision. Service was scattered and there were clearly issues inside (I could hear the staff argue) and the wait staff were not attentive or helpful. I ordered the carbonara. They mistakenly gave my order to another couple which put the dish out of order and meant I continued to wait while they could not eat together (as they were still preparing his dish). There is a difference between al dente and undercooked. I know the difference. The carbonara sauce was not properly emulsified (see photo) and pooled in the bottom of the dish rather than stick to the undercooked pasta. Guanciale has an identifiable flavor and form. This was not it. Perhaps an off evening,...
Read moreTorre del Gusto in Bellagio is situated in a prime spot, right in the heart of a bustling tourist area, which is both its blessing and its curse. The food here is, frankly, average—nothing to write home about. I was craving a good steak, and while their menu offers a few options, the consensus is clear: if you’re going for steak, stick with the bone-in cut. It’s the standout choice in an otherwise unremarkable lineup, offering decent flavor and juiciness, though it’s still not exceptional. The atmosphere feels like it’s designed to churn through the endless stream of tourists rather than create a memorable dining experience. The staff, while not outright rude, seem visibly worn out—likely exhausted from dealing with the constant flood of visitors. You can sense their lack of enthusiasm, which doesn’t help elevate the meal or the vibe. Overall, Torre del Gusto is fine if you’re already in the area and need a quick bite, but don’t expect culinary fireworks. Go for the bone-in steak if you must, but there are better spots in Bellagio for a truly...
