I had just arrived in Bologna to visit and I stopped at this restaurant/cafe on 8th August around 12h20pm to order a coffee and a breakfast with omelet before visiting the city. As a Black traveler who has visited over 30 countries , I have never been asked to pay before consuming — until I visited this restaurant but I paid as they as asked before having a seat . What made it worse was that I noticed other guests were not asked the same. I was polite, respectful, and the staff smiled, but it still felt like I was being treated with quiet suspicion. Being friendly on the surface doesn’t hide the fact that I was singled out. I expect to be treated like any other paying customer. That didn’t happen here.
