Clive T. - Clavature — Restaurant in Bologna

How should I start? Firstly there were no customers there which should have screamed out: avoid! The staff cannot utter a word of English even though some other reviews suggested their English was perfect (paid review.) We had to wait 10 minutes to actually get a menu, even though we were the only ones there. Vegetarian options were scarce. Paid for mineral water which was really tap water in an already opened bottle. The menu suggested that gluten free options were widely available but that was incorrectly advertised. When I asked if any of the pasta were gluten free, I was advised that only the tortellini was gluten free. The nicest thing was we had to pay an additional fee for gluten free. Oh and the menu / staff speak about freshly prepared pasta, cut and rolled in house... it was actually boiled pasta from a packet. The "sauce" was only butter, it wasn't even salted butter. It had no taste at all... more like pasta swimming in yellow water. The portions slacked... please avoid... even if you are super hungry. I hope this helps anybody...

I rarely write reviews like this, but I feel compelled to share my experience at Clavature. Unfortunately, while the staff is kind and seems genuinely eager to please, the food tells a very different story.

The pasta I was served was blazing hot — suspiciously so. It’s hard to imagine it was freshly prepared, as it had all the telltale signs of having been previously frozen. The texture was off, the flavor virtually nonexistent, and the overall dish left me disappointed and unsatisfied. It was edible, but that’s about all I can say in its favor.

Despite the friendly service, the culinary experience was far from enjoyable. The atmosphere was nothing special either, adding to the overall sense of “not quite right.”

In short, while I appreciate the effort of the staff, I cannot recommend dining at Clavature. There are far better options in Bologna — this one, unfortunately, just doesn’t...

Came across this restaurant by accident when I and a friend were walking around trying to find someplace to have dinner.

Menu was amazing and it was really hard to choose what to eat, everything seemed so tasty! We eventually decided and food was brought out promptly.

The food did not disappoint. It was absolutely delicious. Just as good, if not better, as food we'd eaten previously at more upscale restaurants. Another great point was that everything was very reasonably priced.

We had such a good time that we went back here on our last day in Bologna, just to try a few new dishes and we once again weren't...
