Don't save a few extra steps trying to reach the next door.
There is a deep gap between a Pseudo-Wirtshaus and a genuine Wirtshaus. Putting the bad news first, this gap is only on the customers side (Vide digital rates on most of the pseudo restaurants). On the Restaurants side, there is no gap, they are all successful. The reason is simple, who cares?! Are you really worried about details? Do you have parameters to criticize and classify the quality? The good news is, that is your own business. If you don't care you should not read the rest.
Here is my honest review: Wirtshaus Vögele, although years of exercising tradition, the outcome is poor. Not only with the bad quality of the food but also the unfriendly service. From our perspective, the Risotto is like a dried creamy soup with rice. If you can't prepare a Risotto, don't offer it. The Wienerschnitzel was like the sole of my military old shoes, full of oil, the Paniert got divorced from the meat after the first bite (and they never met each other again... Perhaps the Meat was to hard and rebel... The Tortellini seamed to have traveled the world before arrived into our lives. I guess it took a shower and a Sauna before joining us... For the last but not least, the Golden Gaffe: On the Menu you will find "Alcohol Free Helles Beer". An attractive choice for drivers. I ordered one but I never had it! They brought me a bottle of Forst 0,0% Beer, which is something between a Lager and a Pilsen. Probably the Forst identify itself as a Helles Beer... (don't stop Ideology) I had to invite the waitress to come close and tell him that I have ordered a Helles Beer instead but, for my own surprise he told me that the Forst 0,0% is a a traditional German Pale Lager Beer. LOL That made my day. Even the Forst says it is a Lager I'm still asking myself who had the clever idea to call it a Wirtshaus, is it an...
Read moreFound this place while walking around. I was unsure if it would meet expectations, but was happy it was a pleasant experience. Sat outside, due to the beautiful weather and atmosphere outside was bustling with people walking by. *Advice: if your with family (kids) do not seat outside, due to locals smoke a lot while gushing down champagne lol.
Dishes ordered: Variazione di Canederli Rigatoni Vögele Salmon with sesame Tiramisu + Espresso
-Canederli was a first time experience, so it was quite interesting and can't say it was bad or good. -Rigatoni was refreshing taste from the constant bolzano white sauce, savory, tangy with full ripe pomodore sauce and the Rigatoni texture was fab! -Salmon was not what I expected, it was a thinner slice of salmon covered in sesame seeds with rice and vegetables, some sweet and spicy asian style sauce, but that sauce is what ruined the salmon because the flavor was too overpowering and killed the salmon. -Tiramisu is Tiramisu...you can't go wrong unless they are mental + the good ole Espresso pairing.
Now food was ok, but the servers were the highlight! After just finished the main course, wife had to go the bathroom and I was busy taking pictures of the area, a waiter (quite young, handsome fellow) was standing at our table. Shockingly, I found out he was looking after our luggage (carriers and bags), in case a thief attempted to steal.
Now that is what I call True Service!
I highly recommend this place not only for the food but it's strong factor: Service and...
Read moreAfter googling the best restaurants in Bolzano, I noticed that this restaurant was mentioned across several different lists, so I figured it was a safe bet to try. We made reservations the day before we planned to go and had no issues there. When we walked in and gave my name for the reservation, we were handed a coaster with our table number written on it and sent off. I had never encountered a seating situation like that before. So we nervously walked up the the first floor, where we were told our table would be and found a couple of waiters to show us the rest of the way to our table. From there, we accidentally ordered a liter of wine, an appetizer to share, a primi patti, a secondi, and a dulce. The service was excellent throughout the whole experience. My boyfriend and I were just two Americans struggling through the cultural differences in Italy, and the waiters here were very kind. I have nothing bad to say, except the small about the awkward seating at the beginning of our experience. If you ever happen to in Bolzano, I highly recommend you...
