Hotel Goldenstern in Bolzano is a true hidden gem, offering a seamless blend of historical charm and modern comfort. Upon arrival, I was immediately captivated by the hotel's clever architectural design. Housed in a beautifully restored historic building, the attention to detail is evident at every turn. The interplay between the old and new is masterfully done, with the original structure’s unique features harmoniously incorporated into the modern amenities.
One of the most striking aspects of the hotel is its stunning frescos. These intricate works of art, perfectly preserved, transport guests to another time, adding a layer of elegance and cultural richness to the experience. It's a rare pleasure to stay in a place where history is so thoughtfully curated and accessible, allowing guests to fully appreciate the local heritage.
The rooms at Hotel Goldenstern are impeccably designed for comfort and tranquility. My room was exceptionally quiet, providing a peaceful retreat in the heart of Bolzano. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring restful sleep after a day of exploring the beautiful surroundings. Thoughtful touches, such as the tasteful decor and attention to detail, made the room feel both luxurious and cozy.
Breakfast at Hotel Goldenstern was a highlight of my stay. The selection was superb, offering a rich array of fresh, local products. From artisanal breads to delicious pastries and perfectly brewed coffee, each morning began on a high note in the bright and welcoming breakfast area. The variety and quality of the offerings demonstrate the hotel’s commitment to providing an exceptional guest experience.

Read moreAn absolute delight staying at the Goldenstern Townhouse. My family and I spent five nights here before the Christmas holiday and could not speak more highly of it. ||The staff at check in/out/through out our stay were incredibly warm and welcoming. They received us as more than guests, we felt like family. They provided wonderful tips on restaurants to try, and their recommendations did not disappoint. |The small tokens of kindness from the staff also did not go unnoticed. From a prosecco welcome drink at the restaurant, to a thoughtful gift on Christmas day, it made us feel truly appreciated. ||Pros: |Location. Directly in the center of Bolzano, everything is a short distance away by foot. No need for a private car. ||Cleanliness - Spotless! The cleaning staff were thorough and meticulous. ||Comfortability - the beds, shower, and pillows were extremely comfortable. We had some great sleep every night. ||Pet Friendly - we travel with our 6k dog, and it’s always nice to see when a hotel treats furry friends as welcome guests as well. He was provided some treats and a bowl and a silicone mat. He enjoyed it and so did we!||The rooftop provided an absolutely stunning view of Bolzano and the mountains. The table and chairs had us wishing it were warmer so we could enjoy an aperitivo. ||Other reviews mention the lack of lift as being a nuisance. Our room was on the top floor and yes, while there are many steps, it was nothing that bothered us, or we felt we wouldn’t put up with again. We would happily stay at Goldenstern again in the future. Just be prepared and understand there is no lift, and accommodate accordingly. ||Our Christmas holiday was wonderful thanks in part to the staff here, and we look forward to the opportunity to stay again...
Read moreStayed here for several nights in the beginning of December 2022. We are so happy that we found this hotel and were able to book our rooms there. The hotel itself is historic and beautiful. It is comprised of two conjoined houses dating back many hundreds of years. The Rizzoli family who owns the hotel had it painstakingly restored and beautifully appointed. The famous Casanova resided in one of these buildings for a time when he had to escape Venice. The hotel is in the heart of the old center in the middle of all of the shops and restaurants. However it is not just the hotel building that makes this a "must stay" when visiting Bolzano. The staff are among the friendliest, helpful, interesting and professional we have ever encountered in our many years of travel. We simply cannot say enough good things about how welcome they made us feel and how helpful they were in recommending things for us to see, do and eat!... And are also quite knowledgeable about the history of the the building and Bolzano and the South Tyrol in general. We are particularly grateful to Manuela who made our visit so wonderful and memorable. She is a fine ambassador for not only this hotel but also for the whole South Tyrol region. We are also thankful to the other terrific staff who we've met including Delila. This is a beautiful hotel with outstanding and wonderful staff! We give it our highest recommendation and have every intention of returning in the not too distant future! Bolzano is wonderful and this...
